CJ 1 Posted March 8, 2011
As it says in the title, what do you think?http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3453304/Video-Player-sent-off-for-tackling-mankini-wearing-streaker.htmlShocking!!!!
Hmm interesting that they did not ask the ref why he was sent off. If it was just for the tackle then I agree the ref is a fool because clearly helping stewards etc. However there is the possibility that as he ran past the ref there could have been some choice words said such as being F* gay etc which combined with the overly vigorous tackle decided the refs mind. And Professional footballers are warned by the FA not to get involved should anyone enter the pitch that is why there are stewards. Be careful of the press they do anything for a good story
CaptnCanary 0 Posted March 8, 2011 Yeah but those stewards were never going to catch the guy. Such a terrible decision. This is one case where I think the match should definately be replayed.
Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man 4,615 Posted March 8, 2011 Common sense should have prevailed and the ref should''ve patted him on the back, but by the letter of the law, it is a red card for violent conduct. It doesn''t matter whether if it is towards an opponent, a team-mate, the ref, a streaker, or whoever- it happened on the pitch during the game, so it is, technically, a red card. And also, from the ref''s perspective, he would''ve been punished by his assessor if he didn''t send him off, so he had little option.
