CJ 1 Posted February 5, 2011 Just when I thought we had got over the worst of basic defnding we give away a simple goal from a set piece. Lambert must be furious.First mistake was defence way too deep for kick long way from penalty areaSecond mistake was Wilbraham (think) to lose player he was markingThirdly mistake and possibly worst was the fact (once again) Ruddy sat on his line. A simple looped high cross into the six yard area diagonally from a long way out should be easy for keeper at this level. Suspect was over hit and really for mass of players near penalty spot.Oh dear, until he can consistently cut out such mistakes, opponents will keep throwing crosses in knowing they have a chance, even as with this cross not great quality
ryan1992 0 Posted February 6, 2011 Just seen it on FLS, and what one Earth is Wilby doing?! The first rule of defending is to get goal side of the attacker, I know he''s not a defender but he should be able to do better than that! As soon as the ball comes into the box Wilbraham is in no mans land and there is no chance of him getting anywhere the attacker, and there''s only going to be one outcome. How many more times are we going to concede sloppy set pieces this year?!?
Captain Holt 580 Posted February 6, 2011 Couldn''t believe it when I saw it live, sickening defending.
tubby65 0 Posted February 6, 2011 Ruddy is not too blame for this goal, yes he makes mistakes but for this goal the blame lies totally with wilbraham, wrong side and just did not pick up the run.when will people get off ruddys back he is not at fault for every goal we concede. give the lad a chance he has done okay for us this season

But a defender running back to goal always has problems clearing balls like this whereas keeper only has to punch etc and is facing right way to clearIf you watch Ruddy again you will see he starts to come then changes his mind
Norfolk Mustard 106 Posted February 6, 2011 It was amateurish to say the least - shame we are relying on a sub-standard striker to defend in the 6 yard box though. Perhaps he thought he was at training and no one was looking?
Cantiaci Canary 610 Posted February 6, 2011 Good grief give the lads a break! You see poor defending like this in the Premier League every week. Errors like this are inevitable every now and then. If we had scored from one of our chances no one would be analysing this mistake to death.Support your boys!
