Norwich: a fine footballing city

Recommended Posts

Hello all, it''s my first time posting on here after reading the site for years getting my daily fix of NCFC news.

Please visit the link below for some sporting blogs from Former Norwich City Academy player Josh Clarke who this week breaks down the lyrics to ''On the ball, City''.
Thanks WeAreYellows49, I thought some fellow city fans would like it!
And you were right 40yearoldhucks!!!

I was fascinated to read the song was written in the 1890''s!!!

As dated as the song maybe, i must say that it makes it JUST THE RIGHT AGE!!!!! in my book

Kick it off, throw it in, have a little scrimmage,

Keep it low, a splendid rush, bravo, win or die;

On the ball, City, never mind the danger,

Steady on, now''s your chance,

Hurrah! We''ve scored.(A GOAL) City!, City!, City!

Good article and I don''t mean to piss on your tatties but we certainly used to sing the above version (which I think is the original penned version) at least from the 70''s onwards. I don''t know exactly when this was dropped from the song on the terrace - presumably as the song got speeded up.

There are several other verses as well.
