Elliott Bennett to join norwich for 500k with anthony mcnamee going to brighton on loan for rest of season
also henri lansburys loan from arsenal to norwich will be extended to rest of season.

would everyone be happy with this, transfers dealings done then. I know Lambert said he was trying to keep Lansbury and it''s obvious it will take something big to lure Bennett, would this be enough ?

Perfectly plausible, Mcnamee worth maybe 250k with maybe another 500k if we get promoted to top up the deal. Just hope they didn''t watch Mcnamee against Orient last week cos he was utter cack, they wouldn''t want him near the place if they had a scout at that game.

This would be an excellent piece of business, Elliott Bennett looks like a very bright prospect, quick and tricky with goals in him, not sure if the fee is big enough to tempt Brighton though with 18 months left on his contract, perhaps they could have first refusal on McNamee for a pre agreed fee. Henri has quality and would help the push for the Prem.

who do you think we should sign then ? Do you think we shouldn''t extend Lansbury''s loan ? Not go in for Bennett ? I feel McNamee would benefit from going out on loan. What are your opinions ?
Would be happy with that, but would still like to see a striker with a decent scoring record..
Don''t get me wrong, so would I but these sorts of players come with a high price tag and we just don''t have the money at the moment.

i think there is some truth in this as we are reported to have had a scout at the game yesterday watching him another good signing if it goes through shows this club is going in the right direction with the right people in charge . otbc . .

Go on then, tell us why it is "crap". As far as rumours go this has a little bit more weight behind it than most and is more realistic in terms of the value of the player.

Well, first of all the Brighton fans rate him as 4m not 500K. Next he has just signed a 3 year deal, not just got 18 months left on his contract, and thirdly they''ll be in the Championship next year and could offer him a bonus to stay upon promotion in case he was tempted.

I would be happy with him as well, but unless we offer silly money which we don''t have - no chance.

Well that''s alright then.

Since when did the fans make valuations of players? And that''s just a couple of deluded fans on their forums, most (the realistic ones) value him a lot lower.

Well that will put his value up, nothing more.

LOL, we are just over halfway through the season. A lot can happen between now and the end of it.

He scored yesterday, but only his third of the season, so he is not as prolific as he was last year.

But from reports his overall play has come on a long way over the last 12 months, and his is still only 22, I think. In my opinion he would be an improvement on MacNamee.

It would give us more options, but I am not sure how he would fit in with a bombing-forward Russell Martin, the middle of a diamond also comprising Crofts and Surman/Hooly, or even in a conventional four man midfield with Crofts and Fox plus Surman/Hooly.

I know nothing of his defensive capabilities. Perhaps, like Hooly, he could work on this and use his pace.

I am slightly doubtful that he will come, partly because of the price which we would have to pay, but mainly because PL spoke of just having started talking to the club of his final target and with some distance to go, while rumours were talking of a medical/signing tomorrow.

I doubt very much that we would have made an enquiry about Bennett (now confirmed by Brighton on their official site) if he was rated at 4m. The McNamee scenario follows the pattern for Simeon Jackson and Cody McDonald, so there coulod be something in it. Bennett has only scored 2 league goals this season and 2 in the FA Cup, but he does have 20 assists, and there lies his true value. Brighton don''t want to sell so it might not happen, but our interest is certain at least.

So Surman is worth only Â£1m and Bennett a league 1 player is worth £4m. £4m for a player would mean selling half our squad yet Poyet has confirmed we have bid. Its the fact of life I am afraid Bennett will of course want to earn more money and play for a bigger club in front of 25500 every week,  of course we have to accept the same scenario should a big club come in for one of our players.

They think he is worth 4m because to them apparently the Championship is worth 4m and they feel it will halt their promotion push if he went.

"So Surman is worth only £1m"

Whereas the figure the club paid does not equate to that figure at all (source - club accounts).

If Bennett joins City it will mean that City will have to pay up his contract with Brighton, they will also probably pay his agent a fee. What won''t be know is how much City will be paying him or what add ons there are and what other fees there might be.

What is almost always overlooked is that many players will have a ''release clause'' in their contract which entitles them to move if an offer of a higher wage (at a certain level) is made. There has even been cases when even that clause cannot be revealed. So we then get the terminally dim booing the club or club chairman and bleating out such tosh about a selling club.

The total figure therefore can be what Brighton Football Club receive. It can be what is has cost (and could cost in the future) Norwich City Football Club or some figure in between. What is certain is that the figure will not be anything related to the nonsense posted up by fans

Some may have heard the bird commentating on yesterdays game refer to Bellamy as the player City sold for £6m - the reality is we received around £4.6m.

Bloom says there is no need to sell and judging by this;

...they don''t really need the money. At the end of the day it could be down to the player.

If they don''t want to sell, and he''s happy their then its probably a no go....

The only reason they would accept a bid, would probably be because he doesn''t want to stay, but if they really value him, then i can''t see us bidding high enough to get him....

What about Hammill from Barnsley? Rumours of around 700k needed to buy him

That story in the Torygraph isn''t quite what might initially be thought - it says this Bloom guy is giving £80m in interest free loans to pay for the £93m stadium. It doesn''t mean they are suddenly going to be awash with money.

It may be that the lure of playing in the champs now/for more money might turn a player''s head, but I guess we''ll wait and see; being at the top, Brighton have to expect some interest in their players - as we did last season when we were a little concerned that sides might be after Hooly et al.
