Best memory from 2010?

Recommended Posts

Mine has to be racing back from New York to see us take on Leeds at Carrow Road in league 1.

Got to my seat at about 2 minutes to 3.

Was completely shattered after the long flight but I forgot all about it when we scored!

Got to be November the 28th, Norwich 4-1 Ipswich.  Grant Holt hat-trick and another goal from Hoolahan, brilliant[Y]

The Leeds game in League 1 was also very good as was beating Colchester 5-0 and you can''t forget that day at Charlton.  Superb year[Y]

I had a similar race - from New Zealand though. Landed at a very snowy Heathrow at 6 in the morning on the day of the Exeter game after a 24 hour journey (via Brisbane, Brunei and Dubai) and we decided we might as well try and get to the game - by the time we got home after the match I hadn''t slept for 40 hours and crashed out! At least we won...Too many highlights from 2010. My top 5 in date order would have to be Col U away, Huddersfield away, Leeds at home, Charlton away and Ipswich at home.

Beating Leeds in the last minute then rushing out of the ground to get to my 18th party was a pretty special day, Don''t think it would have been the best of parties if we had drawn/lost but to beat them in the dying seconds was just pure awsome!

Winning at the Valley for promotion 12 months after being relegated there

Winning the league

Celebrating after the Carlisle game with the trophy (the result that day didn''t bother me at all!)

Scunthorpe away (Holt''s last minute winner)

4-1 (Need I say more?!)

and many more!

89th minute versus Leeds: Stephen Hughes''s cross, Chris Martin running across the defender and planting it into the net. Also one of my favourite sporting photos:Honorable mentions to Colchester away and beating the binners 4-1.

Such a fantastic 12 months, with so many great memories.

January was where we really confirmed ourselves as the champions elect. 6 wins from 6.[/p]

3 special performances in that month were;[/p]

Colchester away, 5-0, after all the chat from Cowling and with both sides still in the promotion mix; to destroy them on such a pitch was amazing.

Brentford 1-0, Holt sent off in the first half but rather than sitting on 0-0, PL went to 3 at the back and chased the win.

Walsall away, 2-1, at the third attempt on a cold January night with no Grant Holt, on a poor pitch, City were trailing with 20mins to go but somehow left with all 3pts.

Then there was the period in March where we travelled to promotion chasing sides Huddersfield & Swindon and then welcomed Leeds to Carrow Road. Had this period gone against us we could have been drawn back into the pack.

Huddersfield away, 3-1, was a fantastic day, decent weather and a 3,000+ City following, we again trailed but totally blew them away in the 2nd half, all but secured promotion in my mind.

Leeds home, 1-0, late winner in a tense top of the table clash, pretty much won us the title.

Charlton away, 1-0, pretty obvious this one, we officially secured promotion and at the ground we were relegated.

This season has just carried on where we left off last season, backs to the wall away wins have been great but absolutely nothing in 2010 trumps the 4-1 demolition of Ipswich.

If 2011 has half as many good memories as 2010, then it will be another good year for us Canaries and perhaps we''ll be toasting Premier League football.

1. Dismantling the filth

2. Charlton away, in the pub (Angitalican?) all morning, loads of booze, loads of City and then promoted. Thank God for Forster.

3. Leeds at home and taunting them to the point where they were incandescent. ''Up with the Millwall''. Sweet justice after Elland Road

Also had fun at Millwall away depite the result, and the atmosphere in the second half against Brentford was excellent, although I do wish the Horse would stop two footing people.

I agree and concur with many of the comments here.  I have a few personal favourites to share with people from 2010:

The comeback at Walsall back in January to win 2-1 after their ''striker'' had said we feared them because apparantly we wanted the original fixture postponed.

The comeback against Southend where Oli scored twice in the last minutes.

Funnily enough, the last minute free-kick by Chris Martin to get the equaliser at home to MK Dons, which pretty much secured our promotion.

For me, though the best have to be:

Going mental and hugging some lady with a tash when Chris Martin stuck in the diving header at home to Leeds

Going mental and falling on the pitch in 90+2 minutes away at Scunthorpe after Holt''s winner

The pure elation at beating the Scum 4-1

Also - I don''t know why but the 3-3 draw away at Reading sticks in my mind too.  What a superb performance, despite everything contriving against us.  We scored 3 goals away in one half; previous Norwich teams would have lost the game but we stuck at it and got a point. I was also very drunk watching that one.

Out of interest, does anyone know our exact win/draw/loss plus for/against record is in the calendar year?  Must be pretty stunning

Cheers OTBC.

A year so full of rich and wonderful memories, but nothing can come close to a Grant Holt hat-trick against the binners.

The same as most people really, but there has been so many fantastic games it''s no surprise they''ve all kept cropping up.So aside from the obvious (Colchester, Huddersfield, Leeds, Charlton, Ipswich and so on) I''d like to nominate Brentford at home in January. The way we played and the atmosphere in the second half of that game, with ten men, was unbelievable and that game was, for me, the defining moment of our season.

One more to add to the mix...just after City lost to Millwall to end that brilliant run to the top, they went to Brighton on a freezing day and were outplayed for the first hour and 1-0 down till 80 minutes. Really thought the season was about to fold, but Holt and then Doc''s last goal for City turned it around in the last ten. As we had Southampton the following week ( who beat City comfortably at CR ) the win at Brighton was vital to keep City in the lead...
