Police

They were an absoloute joke todayfor those of you who didnt witness it, people coming from the river end (remembring this is mainly old people & families) were forced to crawl under barriers because the police parked vans blocking off the leeds fans and the exit for us when they should have just kept them in their end. They didnt have a clue what they were doing and i saw them being extremely rude and violent to one particular norwich fan

On another point, we had 6 leeds fans sitting around us in the N&P lower, how do they even get away with this as they cheered when they scored!

This was a very strange action by the police, why the leeds fans weren''t just kept in the ground for an extra 10 minutes is beyond me.

I can only think that the plod had arranged for the horses to be there and just felt like they had to use them.

They were just unbelievable, they completely block of the exit past theaway fans exit so anyone walking down past the south stand had to crawl under the car park barriers to get past. No thought what so ever went into their actions. If there had of been a problem then many many people would have got hurt.

I saw Leeds fans damaging cars as the made their escape from the police barracade. Why didnt they just keep the scumballs in for 10 mins? When I asked a copper with pips this question he had no answer.

No doubt there will be a statement tomorrow say how well they situation went and how well they thought they handled it.

bunch of C o c k s the lot of them.

God knows what they will do next sunday.

you lot are unbelievable.last year you moaned that the police didnt protect you from the naughty leeds fans.now you complain when the police keep us herded behind vans, dogs and horses and your passage is blocked...... are you all incapable of walking around the other way towards morrisons. i have never heard so many moaning minnies in my life..... so glad i made the right decision in my early life to support a team with real fans instead of a load of old women.

They also blocked the road with horses at the junction outside the train station by the bridge before the match (not sure of the name, sorry) but there were queues of traffic trying to get that way which were just stuck.. I don''t know how long it was blocked for but no doubt it made anyone coming in from that way late for the game.

Makes you wonder what they''ve got planned for next week - not as much I wouldn''t be suprised.

No we didnt walk to morrisons because we didnt expect such a stupid thing to occur. Why are you even commenting on here if you dont support norwich, get some friends and how can you say norwich doesnt have real fans when we get 25 000 odd week in week out, who do you support then?

This just sums it up for me, muppets like you going to 1 game a season! the police were a complete joke, the fact remains people from the N & P and Jarrold stand are families and old people, there were made to crawl under the barriers to be greeted by hundreds of burberry clade muppets! the police couldnt hold them back so the burst through thinking they had just won the european cup final! Norwich crawl back in you flea ridden hole!

What I saw was a load of police control 2250 Leeds fans. 2250 Leeds fans who were apparently coming to Norwich to eat our children.

Although Leeds were about in numbers in The Prince of Wales, Rocco''s and The Compleat Angler, They were kept out of Riverside and denied a chance to get anywhere anyone from Norwich who thought they were hard enough.

At the end of the game they were cleared from the stand to ease tension after a number of seats were ripped out in the away area. They were then escorted away, with the others allowed to make their way towards county hall.

I also saw several Norwich fans who were thick enough to not realise they would not be allowed to walk through the baby eaters, and simply had to walk an extra 30 yards through the car park to avoid it all.

One cock insisted he be let through as he always went that way, but got bounced by the police. After the amount of bleating on here in March, what did you expect them to do?

What I expect them to do is to Put one of them a bit further down to tell people that way was close, so they could then exit by the coaches and walk up the road.

Not to hard is it? even you can understand that one?

Well unless I was deaf (possible) not paying attention (likely) or already had left the ground (no) there was no announcement to say that the police were blocking off a certain way to go.

That surely was the sensible thing to do to let everyone know before they left the ground.

If you go back a few years that used to happen if there were any "different" policing arrangements.

I know the days of widespread violence, terracing and the mainly working class aspect of the game has pretty much gone, but i think the Plod in Norfolk have got complacent at games these days. The fixture in April againstLeeds was always going to be a "high risk" but nothing was done, this time i think they got most things right but i dont understand why they didn''t keep Leeds in for a few minutes. It was done for every game only a few years back. I think they rely to much on things like CCTV,but if an incident happens its no good for the Victim when the OB turns round and say "dont worry, we''ve got it on camera". I think its pretty much the norm for most forces across the country, but its not to say they dont do a tough job,its IMO, about getting results without the need of putting the boots on the beat.

yawn yawn, As much as it pains me to say I''m going to have agree with our deluded Leeds friend on this occasion.

People moaned last season when there wasn''t any police in sight after the Leeds match, now when they do something about it they still moan. As for having to duck under a barrier surrounding the car park...well its hardly the ''Krypton Factor assault course'' now is it?!?!.......some times I wonder how the people of this country managed to win two world wars !!!!, obviously made of sterner stuff in thoses days??

Spot on.Last season this messageboard was in meltdown about how Leeds fans were allowed to run amok all around the ground threatening and intimidating Norwich fans because the Police presence was virtually zilch so this season everybody gets home safely and no arrests were made and hey guess what? the Police got it wrong again. To those who are moaning may i be so bold as to say i must have missed your tenure as Chief Constable[;)]

because the police did get it wrong.....if you want to avoid trouble or chaos then you need to INFORM, it''s is so simple , have a couple of policemen or even stewards at the end of the south stand to INFORM fans that their way is blocked.

so simple it is child like.

Oldage pensioners, should not be expected to CRAWL under barriers then to be confront by leeds fans who have ''escaped'' by jump on disabled car bonnets. If that had been the only option then , no problem but to beleive that so called ''trained'' policemen thought this option through, leaves me full of confidence (not) as to just what they will come up with next Sunday!

mtv, your right in my opinion. Yes well done to the police for listening and doing something about it, were just saying the way they handled it was stupid and could have been dealt with much easier. but at least they did something i suppose

Well whatever they "come up with next Sunday" no doubt will come under your critical, expert eye that is for sure and if one aspect of the whole complex operation of Policing a sporting event is not spot on you be saying how it should have been done.

I can''t understand why they just didn''t keep them penned in for 20 mins in the away section but having said that surely the Jarrold Stand fans could have just turned right to avoid the Leeds fans??

There are two answers cityangel.

Penning people inside grounds is now considered more inflammatory and dangerous for all concerned - its a confined area and letting them out under control eases some of the problem. They were ripping out seats in block F yesterday and it could have gone wrong quickly.

Secondly, from what I saw, no one had to walk very far to avoid the problem of the police containment, just use the carpark

It does sound like a bit of a mish mash, but however everything seemed to go smoothly so they''ll see it as a success.

We''ll spend a load of public money on the police helicopter next week, just to feel extra valued!

Til.....what a stupid and sarcastic response, i guess you didnt have to crawl over cars to get out with your 2 year old son! the barricade the police formed only stoped city fans walking past the leeds entrance, however the leeds fans bundled the police out the way and felt the need to confront the fans from the family and jarrold sections! i guess in your book this is good policing! idiot!
