John Benson RIP

Have just seen on the BBC sport website that former City player John Benson has died. He played for City under John Bond in the 70s and was later at the centre of the row when Bond left to manage Manchester City - Arthur South had lined up Benson as his replacement but Benson opted to move to Maine Road with Bond.

A great tactical mind who actually played a great part in what NCFC did over the years he was involved.

Maybe not such a legend on the pitch but a good fullback never the less.

All in all worthy of a place in the City Hall of Fame.

Yes i heard this on 606 last night where Robbie Savage made some nice comments about him. Part of the Bournemouth exodus to Norwich under John Bond, he was a key player for us in the early 70''s and later in the management team.

Sad to hear the news. John was part of the period when City first hit the ''big time.'' Bond raised the profile of the club and John Benson should be remembered for the part he played it that. RIP.
