What game did you see today?

Recommended Posts

With no City game on today I went to see my local team Colchester Utd play Huddersfield Town at The Western Homes Stadium.Hudds beat ColU 3-0 pretty comfortably without having to get out of 3rd gear. Hudds were effective and good in defence and took their few chances well to win 3-0. ColU are at least trying to play football this season under John Ward but on the basis of today just don''t have the quality of players to carry it off properly. ColU started with ex-City players Ian Henderson & David Mooney up front. Both were busy but ineffective all afternoon.Hudds started with Alan Lee up front who got grief off the ColU fans all game due to his Scum associations (funnily enough he lives only 8 miles away from Colchester in Dedham). Jordan Rhodes scored the 3rd goal for Hudds with a good finish in the 2nd half before Lee Croft got himself sent off. Croft looks well overweight and cumbersome and this is probably why he crudely hacked down the ColU player for his 2nd yellow.Hard to believe we considered both these sides as promotion rivals for most of last season - just proves how much we have progressed even since winning League 1.

With no raydeo Narfook to keep me entertained, I opted for a short train journey to watch Hyde v Boston Utd. Boston won 3-0, and looked incredibly good for Conference North level football.Always love going to non league grounds, and it''s another to tick off the list. Great little stadium and very pleasant locals there, although the toilets left a lot to be desired. Nothing more than a brick square where you''re encouraged to urinate, no urinals, troughs, cubicles or sinks, just bare brick walls. The smell was really was astonishing. Can''t believe King''s Lynn got demoted from that level because of toilets/floodlights/turnstyles when other clubs are happily surviving with such atrocious facilities.

Catfield vs Lynn Reserves.

What a disgrace the Catfield team are to the game of football. I have never been so disgusted to watch what can only be described as 90 minutes of thuggery. Thankfully for Lynn we only ended up with two bloody noses considering the amount of leg braking tackles that they were being subjected two. The referee did send two Calfield players off in the second half for violent conduct and received a massive amount of viscious very unpleasant abuse from the remaining players. Several Lynn players and crowd memebers were threatenend that they would have thier jaws broken after the game by a certain Catfield player. The whole team were an utter disgrace and most should never be allowed near a football pitch again.

My first choice was Met Police vs Wealdstone, in the third qualfying round of the FA Cup, but I couldn''t do that as I had to take/collect my elder daughter from golf. The second option was Barnet vs Bradford, in the battle of the loons; George vs Tom as Barnet FC is only 15 minutes from the golf club.

Golf was cancelled but my elder daughter didn''t fancy a trip to Underhill having been at football with me for the last two Saturdays.

So we went to the Science Museum instead.

Watched Brighton v Bournemouth on Sky.  Brighton robbed by a terrible 92nd minute penalty decision.   Rhoys Wiggins appears to fancy himself as a free kick specialist but skied several well over the bar, and Bournemouth''s striker broke the Brighton keeper''s nose and elbowed a Brighton centre back in the face without picking up so much as a booking.

Went to bandit country to see the mighty Ebbsfleet United get a 1-0 away win at Needham Market in the FA Cup.  Clint (Easton) played at no. 6 for the Fleet who turned in a competent performance. More Fleet fans there than the Suffolk locals.  Nice little club though - couldn''t believe that for somewhere so close to Pisswitch if I hadn''t seen it with my own eyes.

i''m now watching the France v Romania game on ESPN, nearly half time and 0-0. France playing some neat football but not creating too many chances against a well organised Romanian defence (sounds like last nights game)

Went up to Colney to watch the kids take on Pompey. Arrived 12.50 in expectation of the advertised 1pm kick off, only to find that they started at 11.30! So only saw the last 15 mins.

City won 1-0...the downside was seeing the No 9 Jack Werndley ending up with a suspected broken collar bone in the last minute.

Went along to Crown Meadow Lowestoft for the top of the table clash with Sutton United.

Many ex canaries in the Lowestoft side, including Adrian Forbes on the right wing. Former Norwich loanie Elvis Hammond was playing up front for Sutton.

The game ended 0-0, with Lowestoft having the better of a decent first half, hitting the woodwork twice. The second half was scrappy and bad tempered, with Sutton having someone sent off for a nasty two footed tackle in the middle of the park. Lowestoft had chances to win it in the EIGHT minutes of stoppage time, but it was the noisy following from Surrey who went home the happier. Decent atmosphere from a 1200+ crowd, with plenty of Norwich and Ipswich colours on display. Lowestoft still top of the table, but two points dropped today.

Morecambe vs Shrewsbury, it was ok but I am hugely glad we''re not stuck in the lower echelons of the football pyramind system and having to resort to using some of the players that were on display.

I''m with Jas. No football this weekend for me as Norwich aren''t playing. Instead it''s been a long weekend of NHL for me.
