bjg123 0 Posted October 18, 2010 It''s not tripe, although his valuations are a bit higher than mine. Askou and Nelson are a ready-made top-of-the-table League 1 pairing imo. I''d imagine any team down there with some money to spend and a poor defence would be more than happy to take them from us. Hughes has a good rep in Scotland, and is a classy player. Devalued by being underplayed.
ricardo 8,033 Posted October 18, 2010 Total tosh, you can but laugh.None of these valuations have any basis in facts. A players valuation is as much based on the remaining length of his contract as on his ability.Note that a players value to a club will decline the nearer he gets to the end of his contract and the longer he fails to sign a new one. Wayne Rooney or Wayne Biggins, it makes no difference, when out of contract their value to the club is zero.

chicken 0 Posted October 18, 2010
You think we would sell him for less Chicken?
Who is ''we''?A players value differs depending on their value to a team and to a club, and also by the financial ability of the club to be able to reject a good offer. If someone was to call up and say ''is he for sale?'' I think the answer would be no. If someone said I have £1million in cash here, I think the answer would be yes.He is a good player, and can be instrumental for us, but I don''t think you will have many clubs offering £1.6million for him. Your talking about a QPR or possibly Leicester. A very weak possibility that a lower prem team could take a gamble on him but I doubt it.Part of this is because he appears to have become a very position specific player. As others have said, he doesn''t make a great striker or a great winger and his best position so far is at the point of that triangle.
Gingerpele 0 Posted October 18, 2010 Who is ''we''? Norwich City Football Club...yes i know me and you are not involved, but i thought football fans in general use the term ''we'' when talking about the club they support....I don''t think anyone will buy him, because i don''t think while Lambert is here, he would want to sell him for £1 million, because he is an instrumental part in the way we play, without Hoolahan, the whole system fails, and we have to go back to another formation, and i would doubt Lambert would want to do that full time....So Lambert''s valuation (and while we are doing so well, i think the board will probably back him) of Hoolahan is probably over £1.5 million
chicken 0 Posted October 18, 2010 Ofcourse when I say triangle I mean diamond - doh!
chicken 0 Posted October 18, 2010 @Gingerpele: Without trying to be harsh, I think that under-estimates Lambert. I think he does highly rate and value Hoolahan but he has been out of the team through injury and we have done as well without him in some cases.I also think if all of the money was given back to Lambert he might be tempted by £1million. Either way if a player is not for sale, they are not for sale. I just think you would find it hard to find a team that has the money and currently play the formation that allows Hoolahan to play at his best.

chicken 0 Posted October 18, 2010 And just to add, what a club chooses to price their player as does not mean that is what they are worth. For example, say the club do value Hoolahan at £1.6million, perhaps people have already made enquiries but refuse to pay that much.Would suggest to me that it is an over-valuation. A commodetity - in this case a football player - is only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for them.If no one is willing to pay £1.6mil for them then they simply arn''t worth it.I think the original valuation of £1.2mill is a bit more accurate. But I would like to see how they come up with the values. It looks like its done on how long they have played a certain level of football coupled with awards etc. Which isn''t that great an indication in it''s own right. For example Korey is keeping out Hughes and yet Hughes is more highly valued?!!! Same with Fox to a certain extent.
Mister Chops 7 Posted October 18, 2010 Yes, a 32 year old left back is worth 2.5 times as much as a 26 year old midfield inspiration.
Brendo 0 Posted October 18, 2010 I really don''t see how some of you believe what you write. I''d be delighted if we could sell our whole squad for £10 million, obviously I don''t want us to do this. But if Blackpool spent just £3m in the summer, ours really isn''t worth that much. Holt is an average champ striker at best, imo, at the back end of his career. I''d put money on him not going to a bigger club after us, or going for more than £300k.
