Last time I went to Cardiff I felt really intimidated by their fans who were all around 12 - 16 so think I ''ll sit this one out [:)]

I was there the last time we went. Even got a lift to the ground by plod ! I kid you not,

Working in the midlands so I thought i would stay work late fri night and drive down sat morn, Did that and parked up but got lost - about half mile from the ground.

Saw a police van parked up and went over to ask direction - it was a pc and a wpc, both eating food. After a bit of polite chat they offered me a lift to the ground. Even more weird we drove past my car and I had left the window open, Stopped for me to sort it out as well.

But I take CA''s point.

Not a friendly place. The coppers suggested that I didn''t wear colours until into the ground and not after, especially if I was walking back to the car.

If I can I would like get down there to take a look at the new ground - though still always miss the old ''character'' grounds. Even if the old characters inside want to kill you.

Thats what happened to us too, also do you remember they had a high dividing net between both sets of fans, the steward told us it was to stop them throwing cans, bottles over it.

Also when we left there were gangs of them waiting around our exit and they were shouting all sorts of nasties, really put me off going again although thats the only ground thats affected me like that so far.

probably not the friendliest of places but new group new fans so perhaps there are more decent fans these days......Oh well I will soon find out, my friend is a Cardiff fan so will go with them for a beer before the game, nearest I can get to a Police escort City 1st!!

I live in South Wales and work in Cardiff, and I can assure you Angel, that those were dark days. New stadium, new fans, new outlook by the club. Sam Hammam''s days of darkness are well and truly over.

I''m going to the match and I have spoken to a Director recently who was talking about that exact same thing. He was ashamed of some of the support in the past, but reiterates that it''s a different kettle of fish now.

I would urge you to reconsider the trip. It''s a truly great City now and I''ve always found the people to be very friendly. I''ve been here 9 years now and Cardiff is no worse than any other major City. I guess we''re all spoiled by knowing Norwich so well!

Most Cardiff fans I meet (customers) are very knowledgeable about football and have a respect for our fair club. They do think that we''re a bogey team for them though.

Got to say that the 3 times I''ve been have all been fine, been drinking (in colours) is pubs near the ground and have had many a happy hour in the rugby club to the north of the ground. I appreciate the dark days a trip here would have been nasty but the past 3 times we''ve played there I''ve been there and it''s been nothing but a pleasant experience

[/quote]Never been to Cold Blow Lane then CA ? ..........( lol )I''ve been to their old ground, Ninian Park, in our promotion year and it wasn''t half as bad as we''d been led to believe. Being older I can get away with wearing colours and we found a friendly pub in the teraced streets somewhere fairly close by which was full of big Cardiff blokes and big Cardiff memorabilia all over the walls and ceilings. There were plenty of City fans in there too and it didn''t feel uncomfortable. After the game was fine too but it probably helped that we lost 2-1....

I should be there. Just down the road for me and the other Bristol Canaries.

Contrary to City Angels experience I have only had pleasant trips to Cardiff. Have found their fans very amicable.
