Chris Martin's free kicks...

Recommended Posts

Do we continue to play them with him just shooting at any opportunity.I''d like to see some change, and I believe we might have actually seen some in the last game or two?Anyway, when I think about it, Martin has only scored about 4 or 5 free kicks in about 50 games (probably). I am not saying this is bad, as I think he has a terrific free kick. I''d just like to see some wider variety as sometimes when it is fairly close, he just hits the wall every time. Maybe try some crosses or the Spanish-maestro Lappin/Macnamee (when he''s on) take a few?Your thoughts please...

Brendo, Martin is our best free kick taker in the sense that he''s the only one who seems able to score. He''s scored a fair few actually, and to say in 50 games is stupid because he hasn''t had a realisitc shooting opportunity for every game, has he?

Maybe when Surman is back he could take a few...

Lappin away at Luton? First goal for the club an absolute stormer. Apparently Fox is something of a dead ball specialist? But he''s never on the pitch, not that I''m saying he should be, as Crofts has made the position his own.

Bye bye, Gill, Hughes & Tudur Jones.

The "bending" goals scored by Martin have often been waist high or even lower. Can he actually dip them as well?

Lappin seems to have lost his confidence, or perhaps been instructed not to go for goal, and on Saturday sadly his crosses were not accurate enough.

Have we no-one who can hit it 25 yards screaming into the top corner? It seems not.

Fox certainly scored a beauty against us from distance. Perhaps he deserves a chance!

He only takes the free kick when it''s near the goal and you can''t question his free kick ability he''s far better than anyone in the past few seasons except possibily Clingan? Can you remember the barren spell where I think we had scored 1 direct free kick in about 3 and a half years?!? Martin has been unlucky not to score more free kicks you''ve got remember sometimes the keeper saves them, he''s been unlucky with the woodwork a good few times Swindon,Forest for examples but I would rather have us shoot at a free 20 to 25 yards out than cross it in because recently we''ve been too keen to cross sometimes rather than actually shoot haha

He doesn''t really get that many FKs though....i bet if you look how many Becks has hit them wide/into the wall

But Martins technique, means he is more likely to hit the wall than anything else :P
