Superflash 0 Posted September 14, 2010 Most definitely. I think the witchhunt against him from some of the Hammers fans is absolutely disgusting. Last season Scott Parker got most of the plaudits for keeping them up, but I don''t remember him doing much of note at all for the majority of the season until right at the end. Greeno made some top saves for them and I''d go as far to say that he pretty much kept them up, or at the very least from getting absolutely battered week in and week out. His defence in front of him is absolutely atrocious, lacking any psychical presence or confidence (I''m looking at you, Matthew Upson!). Yes, he''s made mistakes, but that''s part and parcel of football. For every mistake he''s made, he''s made several cracking saves. Even in the USA game afger the blunder, he produced a great save in the second half, which the rapists in the press barely acknowledged. They also failed to acknowledge that England failed to take their chances up front during the game. Plus, West Ham as a club is in dire straits. I said it when Sullivan and Gold took over, they''d absolutely destroy that club if they didn''t buck their ideas up. I couldn''t believe it when they mentioned they were trying to sing players like Beckham and Henry in the press. What an absolute load of rubbish, they were trying to run before they could walk effectively. I fully expect West Ham to go down and I think Greeno should jump ship at the earliest possible opportunity, even if that means returning to the Championship for a short time. Surely it''s got to be affecting their morale. I''m confident Greeno will bounce back. He''s a club legend and by all accounts a terrific bloke.

In fact, he seems to have his head screwed on and I wish more footballers were as grounded as him.

Brendo 0 Posted September 14, 2010 Haha sorry I was a bit rash. [:$]But of course I would! He''s only 30 and still a great keeper. 2 mistakes doesn''t mean he''s poor. The Norwich faithful would soon bring his confidence back up. [:D]

I have it from former players that he was the most focused and dedicated player during his time here.Maybe Mr Huckerby could confirm this?
Wings of a Sparrow 1,410 Posted September 15, 2010 Apparently he is everything a modern footballer isn''t (which is a good thing) Polite, educated, keeps himself to himself and family orientated. Arrogance is not a word I''ve ever heard him described as.I''d have him back like a shot.
Supermarket Prodigy 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Green is currently a scapegoat after the World Cup. Was there anything made of Hart''s error on Saturday? Nope! Green''s was unlucky, he made the mistake, his defender got to the ball and then whacked it straight at Kalou. Greeno is a top-class keeper, suffering a blip in confidence. West Ham are in dire trouble, they can''t score goals and they can''t defend. Its the exact same thing we did with Theoklitos. He had a shocker, though, as a team we were poor that day. Simply, him being the last line of defence, he appears the largest culprit. When a striker misses from six yards, a la Cureton, then surely that''s just as bad as a keeper making an error, resulting in a goal? As every striker, arguably should score from six yards, therefore surely that is costing their team a goal?SP
Europe_93 11 Posted September 15, 2010 I wonder if they are debating on the West Ham forum whether or not to sign up a Championship / ex Everton reserve team keeper.

Bobert 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Not for me. Norwich have had much better goal keepers. Always seemed to be diving when the ball had gone passed him. Too wooden for free kickes and penalties.
CanaryJames 0 Posted September 15, 2010 It worries me that he''s 30 already! I can remember him being hyped up as a kid like it was yesterday!I''d have him back. Matt Morriss 69 Posted September 15, 2010 What a ridicoulous thread.Would we have a Premiership and International goalkeeper back in our team? Of course, and how anyone can say no is beyond me. You might as well ask would we have Ronaldo in our team. Were in the Championship, by default a Premiership and England goalkeeper would improve the team so anyones opinion in the negative is ridiculous.

|BA 0 Posted September 16, 2010 Not a chance. Never rated him and it was the biggest mistake we made in the world cup buying him a ticket.Signed for WHU then started moaning about his deal, flawed eyesight, Malky hated him & got punched in Taverham for slagging our fans off.Nope, not a chance. Take FF back though. Twice the keeper Green will ever be.
Norfolk Mustard 94 Posted September 16, 2010 Yes - Rob Green has fantastic attributes. Whatever is all this talk of arrogance?; people who don''t know him haven''t a clue how to identify belief & confidence in a top performer. Thankfully, I do.

Barclay hero 0 Posted September 16, 2010 Its a no from me - there are far better keepers in the country. As for only 2 mistakes, presume you mean the England one and a similar one in the prem last week - in which case you must have forgotten Forest (A) in 2003? sgncfc 1,223 Posted September 17, 2010 He is only an international goalkeeper because no one else was around; he will never play for England again and should never have played in the first place as he was never good enough. Solid player but never outstanding. Decent reflexes, but could never position himself properly for shots going across him and not very good on crosses or, as we know, against free kicks or penalties. He had one good season for us and one for West Ham but the fact that no bigger club has ever followed up their supposed interest in him should tell you everything. IWould I have him back? No. He stayed with us for too long as it was.
