Save Wrexham

Recommended Posts

Just imagine, for a minute, what you''d be feeling like if the club you loved and supported could have just five days left....

Well, that''s the situation Wrexham FC find themselves in. Their chairman has proposed plans to demolish the Racecourse Ground for redevelopment. The repocussions of this would be that Wrexham AFC would cease to exist. Now, we can''t do a lot to save the situation, but there is one thing. Below is a petition, created by loyal fans of Wrexham AFC, already signed by over 10,000 people. This petition will be presented to the Welsh Assembly, who are essentially Wrexham''s only hope. Recently we''e had Hornchurch go copput, but we must make the biggest effort possible to stop the first league club go under. Again, imagine if you were a fan of Wrexham AFC. So, please take two minutes of your time to help save Wrexham AFC...

A Brief summary of current problems at Wrexham FC.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For anyone new coming to this board, here is a brief summary of current events at Wrexham FC. Feel free to copy and paste this anywhere you believe it will help. Hopefully this thread will stay on this board.

After two years of Mark Gutterman being in charge of our club, a group of Wrexham fans started questioning the truth behind the Chairman’s agenda. At the end of last season Gutterman was exposed as merely being the front man for our club and Alex Hamilton a property developer came onto the scene as the man who really owned the 78% major shareholding in Wrexham FC. Behind fans backs, he had managed to purchase the club and the leasehold for the ground. The brewery, who owned the ground, believed it to be in the interests of Wrexham FC. However, Hamilton quickly transferred ownership of the ground to one of his other companies, increased the rent from £1 per year to £30,000 and served notice on Wrexham FC to quit the Racecourse Ground after 130 years of playing there. The land without Wrexham FC is in a prime development area and considered worth millions without the club on it.

Throughout this Alex Hamilton has maintained that his actions are in the interests of the club but many fans believe debts have been purposely increased and the club has been run into the ground over the past few years in an attempt to blackmail fans and the council into the idea that Wrexham must move. Plan A, B and C for development of the Racecourse have all passed us by and we are now looking at being homeless by the end of the season. The story twists and turns and only a supporter with a law degree could make sense of it. The first game of the season saw Mr Hamilton appear on the home kop in what many believe to be an attempt to cause trouble between himself and the fans, he was eventually led away by stewards and police. Wrexham fans are furious over Mr Hamilton’s dealings and behaviour and have conducted a 3,000 strong march through the town and peaceful protests at the chairman’s £3 million home in Cheshire. Our campaign has been helped by Brighton fans, who are astonished by the parallels which led to them losing their own ground, and Doncaster Rovers fans who themselves had similar worries. Wrexham fans simply want the chairman Alex Hamilton to leave our club and currently it is rumoured two consortiums are trying to buy him out. A supporters trust has also been set up so that Wrexham fans will have a say in what happens at the club in the future if Hamilton does leave. We all dearly hope that someone succeeds in removing Hamilton as our chairman and Wrexham FC can remain at its true home in North Wales for another 130 years and beyond.

OK but apparently these other clubs of which you speak aren''t desperate enough to set up a petition.

Good luck to Wrexham for their campaign - though I have no connection to the club whatsoever, I their chase - I mean their case - sounds terrible, and I''ve already signed the petition.
