Yellow Rider 0 Posted August 23, 2010
Football is slowly killling itself. Ticket prices are far to high pricing people out of the game, To much media exposure, To many live games on tv. The money obsessed world of the Prem League where players earn a week what many take 8 years to earn. Football used to be a working class game but people seem to have fallen out of love with it. As for our crowds if the club decide to hike up season ticket prices next season we will probably see the same scenes.
This post may only contain 4 lines or so but it''s worth it''s weight in gold JF.You should send it that fool Scudamore who runs the ''brand, sorry ''product'' that is the Premier League. No-one is saying turn the clock back to the cloth cap 50''s era or the hooliganism and shoddy ''facilities'' of the 70''s but the professional game is hugely expensive to watch as you identify in order that these absurd wages are paid. This so called ''best league in the world'' has never been anything but a media myth that so many ''experts'' repeat on every football programme like the most predictable of sheep. Problem is it the pitiful gates at Wigan, Birmingham, Bolton, Middlesboro etc. are of no relevance to Scudamore and his ilk. His obsession is with the ''Top Four'' and the ''expansion of the brand''. Unfortunately it will take attendances at Old Trafford or The Emirates to fall off by 10,000- 20,000 before he might wake up and finally realise the stupdity of the whole thing. The top four will flay off to a world or european ''Super League'' at the first sign of that though. Mind you that could be the catalyst for the changes we desparetely need. I''d just add the pitiful gates at Wigan, Birmingham, Bolton etc are no relevence to those clubs either while they are getting TV revenue on such a scale and selling their own brands world wide as a result.
