Personally I would have looked no further than Neal Trotman at Preston. Seen him a few times and have been in owe of his ability. No idea why he''s been listed at Preston. I think they''ll regret getting rid in the future. He''d be a fantastic signing.
Trotman is dreadful as his loan spells at Soton & Huddersfield proved, was a liability even at League 1 level.
I beg to differ. Funny how one person can see a player one way and another person can have a polar opposite opinion. I think Trotman will prove to be a very good player in the future.

In those 3 games we created plenty and scored 7.

Preston has been struggling at the wrong end of the table for the last 18 months and he hasnt been able to get a game under 2 different managers (Alan Irvine and Darren Ferguson). I know players can flourish elsewhere under different management because this doesnt seem a great endorsement of his ability. Barnett is slightly different because he can''t get near the squad of a Premier League side who made short work of the championship along with Newcastle.

I''ve met Leon a couple of times actually - nice bloke and will fit in well at Carrow Road.

I once told him he needed to sign for Norwich looks like he''s taken my advice lol

Askou although fit is very short of match sharpness, so to put him in with Ward I think would be unwise. He needs someone fully up to speed next to him.Thats my take on it anyway.
Who''s to say that Askou won''t start against Forest? Listening on the radio last night, it seems like he shone against Blackburn. Ok, the side wasn''t our strongest by any stretch of the imagination, but it sounded like he had a solid game. I was hugely impressed with his start to the season last year and think he was unfortunate really.I''m pretty sure the article on this very site said Barnett would go straight into the "squad". So, we shouldn''t assume Barnett will start, if you catch my drift. We need another CB, that''s a given, and I trust Lambert to get the best out of a player (even though LB''s diciplinary record looks shocking!)

Like I said, that was my best guess.

They say Whitbred is two weeks away from fitness but it would be foolish given his recent injury record to bank on his return. Therefore adding Barnett makes sense, he may not start above Askou but he is needed.

I was replying to cityislife''s question and trying to form my own assumption, much in the same vein as yours I guess!I think we''re all agreed, a new CB is definitely needed. Credit to Nelson for making that position his own in the past few games and creating the need for us to rush out and sign a defender on loan.I''m still unsure as to whether Whitbread will ever make an appearance for us! Recurring injuries are a total nightmare. For everyone involved!

19 games. 2 red cards. Conceded 3 penalties.

You mean we''re finally replacing the Doc?

Although perhaps "enough faith" might be more accurate than "a lot of faith". And that is not to say Lambert is right. But, having looked at Askou, Lambert signed two central defenders (Whitbread and Ward) who were plainly both starting-eleven players in his mind. It''s unlikely he would have done that if he had been entirely happy with Askou starting in the Championship.

I sometimes wonder why people try to stir things up on here against Askou. If Lambert didn''t want him he would have left in front of Stephens, Docherty and Spillane. So we go into the season with 4 good Centre Backs seems solid. Now we have 2 Injured and 1 more just coming back from injury so we need cover in case unfortunately one more gets injured. Surely it is as simple as that. Please do the maths before you all do the stirring. Askou and Ward will be a great pairing and Whitbread to come in very gently as he has been injury prone and now we need cover for about a month.

Welcome to Norwich Leon, seems to be mixed reviews on him depending on whether you read the views of the Coventry fans or West Brom, hope it works out for both parties.

Do you think he has been brought in to go straight in the starting 11, or to provide cover for Ward and Askou?
