The offside player was Nile Ranger not Ameobi. Shola was only in the building (or on the pitch at least) for the second half.

Just looked for myself, soz.  13000, not bad a suppose, Newcastle are gonna struggle this year, very little invested in the squad and a lot of unproven players at that level.

Can anyone identify our defender who was turned (too easily) by Amoebi (and this time it WAS Ameobi!) for the Newcastle goal?

He was visibly disappointed with himself after that. Went down to his knees, with his head in his hands! Yes, he was turned way too easily. Ameobi barely moved to get in front of him, which was more concerning. However, it was a friendly and the rest of Ward''s play looked reasonably good. Reads the game well and can pass the ball out from the back effectively. I''m sure when he''s back up to full speed he''ll be a big player for us. Anyhow, it was a good run out for him. Think he played about 60-70 minutes which will help with his match sharpness for sure.

But down on his knees, head in hands?[:''(] Lord knows then what his reaction will be if he makes a mistake in a game that actually matters![;)]Seriously, though, he always looked like a good signing, and I suspect your assessment will be justified.
