Its only a quid mate, support your club. didn''t have to go in if you thought it was that disgraceful.
H KON&P did you support your club and go? I had no problem with having lunch in yellows, paying for me and the Mrs to go in and purchasing further refreshments either. I do however have a problem with the PRINCIPAL of mandatory charging for young kids.
Yes i did go and was happy to pay the hefty £1 fee, to be honest with you mate, id be agreeing with you if the price was £5 but at merely a quid, i think you cant really complain about the principal
I went to the Supporters Forum and here are my observations.  Panel was Richard Gough (Customer Services), David McNally, Grant Holt, Ewan Chester (new Chief Scout).  Neil Adams was in the Chair.

Asked about the season the phrases used by the panel were to "give it a go" (GH), "win more than we lose" (DMcN).  Not just consolidate.

Finances - much the same as we''ve heard before.  Our debt level is not sustainable in the Championship.  We''re seeking investment - if we can''t find it DMcN says we need a Plan B.  Promotion would of course be one solution.

Ticket admin fee - is to help cover costs of issuing tickets.

Other increases - DMcN says we need to raise revenue where we can hence extra seats - and would consider putting more in next year eg 500 or 1000.  Only major increases eg top tier City Stand if in Prem.  Best value seats will always be to season ticket holders.

Player budget - first aim of the budget was to give PL a competitive player budget for the season - from there other revenue has to be found to pay for it. Turnover last season was circa £17m, aim for new season is £22m.

Scouting -the new network is one scout in Scotland (tbc), North (Stuart McCall), Midlands (Alan Durban), South (not sure of the name but ex Head Scout at Spurs, Pressland poss surname).  No European scout, Flecky to scout non league.  Aim is to work ahead of the next transfer window to have a list ready for PL in areas he wants to strengthen.

Academy - we are looking at opening further satellite centres to produce more home grown talent.  Current ones are in Hertord and Cambridge.

Holt fitness - not match fit as too much pre-season missed, will be training hard this week and hopes to be in the squad for Watford.  Asked about opponents this year he said he was looking forward to Forest at the City Ground and "sticking it up them" - clearly not happy how he was treated there.

I''m sure there''s other stuff too but this is all I could recall quickly.
i suppose it is a little harsh, but if they clearly state entrance is £1 then it should be paid.
Oh come on! The Stewards, gate men, advertising, etc have all got to be paid...... why run the event at a loss?
I am suggesting that entry fees for adults is perfectly reasonable however there aren''t many instances where you have to pay entry fees for under 3''s. Even the stewards were not keen on it.
whats £1 for a good day out?!
OK, as people are missing the point it is about principal. As I said charge for adults all day long but not for kids. As for those saying "oh but it costs the club money" I have to say the bars and refreshments counters seemed to be doing a good trade and the shop seemed to sell quite a few footballs for people to get signed.

Oh well I guess it''s an obvious case of how much I don''t like the club and hate McNally and how I am moaning about having to pay a quid for the wonderful day I had (by the way it was pretty pants from an adults point of view and is aimed rightly so at kids to meet their heroes). As for those moaning about my point, how many of you went and gave the club one of your hard earned pounds?
so the adults should know what to expect?!
Absolutely but your pea size brain seems to be missing my point about totally agreeing with paying for adults. Also did you go and give the club you love a bit of revenue?
no i didn''t go. But over a season they get £180 from a season ticket, £3 a game for a programme. £35/40 for a shirt. £10-£20 in badges and other items. That is £300 a year from me alone, and im not paying for an adult season ticket so i dont think they will worry about me not giving an extra £1 for today.

I went and as I walked accross the car park to leave, a certain Mr Huckerby pulled up with his two boys. It took him an age to get from the car park to the Jarrold Stand, as so many people stopped him for his autograph!! Wonder if they paid their £3 to get in!

Top bloke, passed him as he was walking round the back of the Barclay. His son pointed out the only reason Hucks had a pen in his pocket was because he had told him to take one. Seemed like nice lads and lets hope they turn out as talented as their father!

agreed hucks was a top bloke, had photo done with him, nothing was too much trouble for him. the whole £1 entry is fair enough, took my boy for his first visit at 2 years of age, he was asleep when i arrived so had to take his pushchair, on arrival at the gate he was awake and wanted out of his chair, when i asked the steward on the turnstile if i had to pay for him he said no,not if hes in a pushchair i said ''yeah his pushchairs here'' he said no hes got to be in the pushchair to get in for free!? as you will know a 2 year old thats just decided he wants to walk in doesnt take kindly to being put back into his chair, he then said if i pay him then they will get the gate open to allow me to push him in, i gave him the £2 for me and the mrs and then started to walk to the gate with her but he said ''no, one of us only could go through gate with him (even though id paid) and the other one of us must go through turnstyle! over picky or what!

I may have missed a trick here but are people actually complaining about the £1 charge for the open day? Sounds like a good deal to me!

Previous years probably around 8,000 - 10,000 at the event - yesterday probably around 3,000 , never seen players with no queues for autographs , and looking to finish the signings early - half the ground blocked off - nowhere near as good as in previous years and I firmly believe the £ 1 charge per person was to blame , a free couple of hours ( crisps drinks excluded of course ) now turns into a £ 5 excursion for an average size family - had the open day always been charged then fair enough ,but to be free and now no longer puts people off , had my son not signed up for the FITC session I wouldn;t have bothered ( even that only had 7 boys - previous years has been two dozen )

There were some real bargains at the FONCY auction too, lots of the signed shirts going for less than the shirt face value.

It may have a lot to do with the date tbh. Usually the open day is right after the last game of the season, having it at this time of year, a few weeks into the school holidays must mean that a lot of people are away.

people wont be to bothered. for an adult to pay £2 for them and their child to see their childs hero''s it must be brill. well worth £2

I completely agree with you. I went to the event and paid my £1 happily. I dont have children but would happily pay £1 if they were 3 years of age or older. However to charge a child of 18 months is a bit tight, its not as though the child is going to have any great memories of the day and probably doesnt know too much about what is happening!!

i begrudge paying anything - the event was the OPEN DAY - the fans chance to see things they don;t normally - to charge for that seems a bit mercenary - my kids love to go and get autographs etc and see trophy room / cabinet - got a few autographs this year becasue the queues were so short - Zero chance of one next year I would think

so you wont pay £1 for kids to meet their heros.
