GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 1,748 Posted July 13, 2010 I was in two minds as to whether to go to this tonight - glad I didn''t ,sounds like a thoroughly miserable evening (if your a Norwich fan), may give Norwich Utd a look on Thurs?
jed exodous 0 Posted July 13, 2010 I thought bout going too, but £8 to watch lynn misfits v norwich youth, i''d rather wait and see norwich youth at carrow road, at least we''d get the cash...Sounds like a bad night for us, but all the same, will be a good experience for the kids... Pete Raven 276 Posted July 13, 2010 King’s Lynn Town 2, Norwich City XI 0King’s Lynn Town celebrated their homecoming in winning style against a Norwich City XI last night <tues>at The Walks.Lynn-bred skipper Jack Defty had the honour of opening the scoring in front of a bumper 1,012 crowd in the first competitive senior game at the stadium since the previous club folded over unpaid debts.Jack Defty picked himself up after MacKenzie had clumsily bundled the Town skipper over to send Matthews the wrong way from the penalty spot on 37 minutes for his fifth goal of the pre-season campaign.Brady Stone doubled Town’s lead after the interval with a fortuitous touch from Jamie Thurlbourne’s inviting corner to seal victory in an enjoyable encounter. Town were more than a match for Ricky Martin’s shadow City squad which featured fringe Canaries’ first team players Jens Berthel Askou, Matty Gill and Owain Tudur Jones.Lynn named an unchanged side from the weekend 5-0 friendly romp at Long Sutton. Martin’s and his new assistant academy chief Gary Holt included Askou and skipper-for-the-night Gill in their starting line up with Tudur Jones on the bench alongside George Francomb.A crescendo of fireworks greeted both sets of players after the kick off had been delayed 15 minutes to accommodate the large crowd in attendance for the historic occasion.King’s Lynn Town: Street (Hails 75), C Defty (Buhlemann 58), Alsop (Newton 66), L Thurlbourne, McNeil (Plumb 75), Stone, Spriggs (Doherty 53), White (Kelly 53), J Defty (Moreira 82), Cubberley (Smith 58), J Thurlbourne. Jacko 0 Posted July 13, 2010 2-0 doesn''t sound like the worst result ever given how young our side was today. However the writing does seem to be on the wall for Tudur Jones, Gill and Askou. I remember going to a friendly against Lynn in 2008 where I think if memory serves me right the only senior player on show that night was Lappin whom Roeder obviously didn''t rate. Daz 0 Posted July 13, 2010 So we lost, not really a surprise. Little disappointing, but in theg rand scheme of things, It doesn''t really matter. It was our kids, against a Team full of confidence returning to football.Nothing to worry about, good to have the reserve friendly''s though, so our Academy players can play some decent games and try and make a name for themselves. Its really Stevenage, Daggenham, Newcastle, Lincoln and Everton the games that we need to put full attention towards.Norwich United on Thursday I believe, OTBC! Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man 3,813 Posted July 13, 2010 I was disappointed to see Askou wasn''t with the main squad, but after tonight''s performance, I''m not so sure. He was terrible; getting caught out of position and letting Jack Defty, who may be Lynn''s best player but is hardly a superstar, get the better of him too many times.I know it is only the youth team, but Lynn were easily the better side and could''ve been four or five up at half time. One positive was the way the Norwich side, particularly the defenders, tried to play, with the ball staying on the ground. The defence hardly played any long balls in the first half, and along with the keeper, played some neat passes amongst themselves instead of lumping it long. It makes a refreshing change from seeing Nelson and Doherty lump the ball long far too often.

Tookie140 0 Posted July 14, 2010 Wiggins is not with the first team squad in Germany City''s fringe first team squad members Owain Tudur Jones, Rhoys Wiggins and Matty Gill could all bolster a youthful Canaries line up with Paul Lambert''s senior players away at a private German training base this week. <<< taken from the article on the homepage http://www.pinkun.com/content/pinkun/norwich-city/story.aspx?brand=PINKUNOnline&category=Norwich&tBrand=PINKUNOnline&tCategory=xDefault&itemid=NOED12%20Jul%202010%2017%3A34%3A35%3A303
lynn canary 0 Posted July 14, 2010 In the first half i would have to say Askou was our best palyer, we made no chances at all. However Drmola was very good at holding the ball up for layers to make the runs and he looked like he had a fair bit of pace on him aswell. Matthews made an absolutely fantastic save in the second half. Tudur Jones didn''t do too bad when he came on. Kept the ball on floor and just played it about. Gill doesn''t even look comfortable against Lynn. He kept misplacing his passes and was not really getting the ball and making chances. Remy Gordon really did get stuck in when he came on as captain. Was a dull game but there were a lot of players that showed some potential, but after that game it looks like Gill really will have a hard job of breaking into the team this season
