Pre Season violence!

Recommended Posts

I was a little surprised to say the least when I came across this a few minutes ago.

York city square closed amid football violence

Police and football fans

Police escorted the fans away from St

Helen''s Square

One of York''s busiest

shopping squares was closed off by police after violence erupted among

about 50 football fans.

Police cordoned off St Helen''s Square as violence broke out

among Hull City fans, who were in the city for a pre-season friendly

against York City.

Eyewitnesses said officers in riot gear and with police dogs

forced the fans into the Lendal Cellars pub where they were contained.

Two hours later the police were seen to escort them to the

railway station.

One person has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Eyewitness Sandra Preston, who works in the same building as

the Lendal Cellars pub, said she was not allowed to leave the premises

for about two hours.

She said the first she knew of the trouble was at about 1130

BST when she heard the sound of breaking glass.

Asked if she was frightened, she said: "I was more concerned

in case anyone had been hurt."

Leeds fans have had trouble in Slovakia too.

Locals fighting in pubs with Leeds fans and Leeds Utd flag have been stolen.

If everybody was given their birthright to be conscripted into national service and then be sent to fight some foreigners somewhere.  We wouldn''t have alpha male acting like a dickhead on British streets.

Have you noticed it`s 2 teams from Yorkshire , Don`t say Hull is in Humberside because that`s a newley created county.

"Bruce''s Header" I was a little surprised to say the least when I came across this a few minutes ago.

Im not. Hull have very bad reputation, have for years. Travel everywhere in big numbers. Not a big name for the papers like Millwall, West Ham, Cardiff etc, but just as nasty.

Agree totally. Hull have a large troublesome following.

When we played them at Hull, there supporters actions were a disgrace and the police took very little action.

Of course most of them are the thick young scum but a few police batons over their heads would make them think again.

Its OK, Hull is in (East) Yorkshire, Humberside was short lived and abolished in 1996.

I remember the hassle that kicked off the last time we went to Hull. Thank goodness there''s that massive fence between the home and away supporters. [:S]

Well I''m working in York atm and went into the city yesterday, must have just missed it though.

Cannot believe that it''s for a pre season friendly and that it was Hull fans kicking off against each other. Very pathetic.

Football is full of ups and downs. It''s easy to support a club that''s on the up but you find out a lot more about those "supporters" when their club drops back down. Expect to see a lot of angry Hull fans if they aren''t challenging this season. Either that or a half empty stadium. Us football fans don''t take disappointment very well!

Very true, remember after the 7-1 last season friends and I were in so much shock I don''t think we have ever got so drunk on a night out so quickly. But they did win the game against York and the guy I live with came back from the friendly quite positive about some youth players they were playing. Just strange attitude after winning a pre season game!

Football is just the excuse used.

It''s really all about mindless thugs and idiots going somewhere where they can act in that way and get away with it.

It''s not about the ''support'' of the team it''s about violence.

Last wek the excuses were the Orange marches in Northern Ireland!

Think it all kicked off 3 hrs before the game! They are complete w*nkers, as a few have already said it was rough when we went to the KC, even though there was a fence I saw a bottle fly over it.....they even had a chav in a Man U shirt get arrested!

Never mind their ground will be too big for them now, back to rugby again at the KC!!!!!

Agree with most of the comments in this thread about our charmless friends from ''Humberside''. I too was in away following on our last trip to the KC and can vividly recall the teenage thugs and intimidating atmosphere. Comes as no surprise that these losers wouldn''t hesitate in kicking off at a meaningless pre season friendly. Oh for a double over these morons this season.

If God was going to give the world an enema he would stick the tube in Hull.
