Greatest NCFC team since you were born!!

Recommended Posts

I was born in 1984 and this is MY greatest team to date!

It was tough and I feel guilty leaving Hucks and Bellamy on the bench but it was a tough decision – they would defiantly get a second half run out......

Bryan Gunn

Ian Culverhouse

Malkey Mackay

Matt Jackson

Mark Bowen

Darren Eadie

Gary Holt

Ian Crook

Ruel Fox

Robert Fleck

Chris Sutton

SUBS

Chris Woods

Darren Huckerby

Craig Bellamy

Iwan Roberts

Adam Dury

Jon Newsome

Spencer Prior

Tried to put them in formation but beyond me - you get the idea!

I know that it is only your opinion mate, but to include both Bentley and Davenport and put ''anyone but hux'' in your team shows you up for being a bit of a mug I am afraid..
...To add why woods over green....Have a video, now transfereed to dvd,of loads of early tv highlight shows, dad, bro recorded, from The Big Match,MotD and midweek shows.,before my footy going started, and there is loads of quality saves woods did,but one against  Luton away 82/83,was the best save i have ever seen!..p###ses on the 1 banks did against pele in 66..from 6 yrd box,a luton forward hits this shot full blast(not a header like the pele one!).and woods somehow reacts so quickly, dives to right and tips it over!...Unbelievable! .....Nearest to it was greens against stoke in our promo year, when he got called up for get together with England...But not a patch on that!

Been told Keelan made similar save against chelsea in a cup match..But no proof, only bro`s word

Greatest player and first on teamsheet was easy ..HUCKERBY!

Just about spot on as far as I am concerned. Can you imagine Bruce and Forbes at Centre back? I don''t suppose the modern ref would tolerate Big Dunc these days. And, if you also has Watson in the squad for when Forbes was suspended then that would be some defence!
Mulryne? Are you sure?
I wouldn''t take these threads too seriously. People are naming Mackay ahead of the likes of Fleming, Bruce and Jackson in some cases.

In terms of when you were born is going to throw up some strange selections anyway. Davenport is another strange one really as he was ok whilst here but its not like he was as good as Fleming or really as much part of the club but there you go.

To be honest its hard for me, I was born in 1982 so I could pick some of the players from various golden ages from that point onwards. I would have to say that big Malky, as good as he was, probably would struggle to make the bench.

If you''re talking about living memory then its likely to be more like the Munich era team with a splattering of others since such as Huckerby, Fleming and perhaps Gary Holt.

Banana. I presume you''re on the windup, and are just looking for a reaction. Well done. Anyway, my first game was 1992, so I shall do a team from then. GreenSteenoDruryFlemingPolston - a blast from the past but he was one of my favourite players as a kid. FoxEadieGossHuckerbyAshtonBellamyYes, it''s 4-3-3 and we never play it, but it was the only way to put those 3 strikers and Eadie in the same team. So many players I wanted to include too...

Yeah, I sat daydreaming about what a central defence that would be. But as you say, it''s debatable how long Forbes would stay on the pitch nowadays [:D]
