Macken is a free agent

Recommended Posts

What are peoples thoughts on this guy. Wasat United, left for Preston then moved to Burnley. Always seems to score a few goals a season and is always available. Never had any major injuries. There is an interesting article on him on the SKYSPORTS website

Think he may be a good signing for us, and hes available on a free

Okay i''ll reat this as though it isn''t a wind up...

96 goals in almost 400 appearences isn''t exactly prolific. 18 goals in 94 appearences most recently for Barnsley certainly isn''t prolific. And at 32 what makes you think he''s going to improve for us?

Plus he''s an ex binner.

No thanks.

Macken has been shipped out on loan everywhere until Barnsley came along, even then his goal scoring record wasn''t great.

We can do better

Can''t remember him saying that but I don''t think PL has got anyone in older than 26 so far.

This has to be a joke. Macken may have started at Manchester United, but made his ''name'' at Manchester City, where he was prolific for mostly being crap. Played for the binners, I believe, too.  And he''s old.  And unbelievably shit.Seriously, is this the best people can do?

He was a good player at Preston. But that was back in 2002. After he joined Man City he never looked the same player. Can''t really say I want a player who hasnt done well for nearly 8 years!

Remember him being a very good striker at Preston but his career stalled when he joined Man City in 2002, couldn''t get much game time with Goater, Wanchope and Huckerby banging in the goals and once promoted they spent big bringing in Anelka and Fowler.
