To be honest, if the British press feel the need to destroy a player or players in an act of petty revenge for not winning the world cup then it will show them up to be the scum that they are.

Was told at the same time, that Gerrard had been in court to get a gaaging order, and the story could only be released after England got knocked out of the World Cup.

Will they be scum if it is true, and if it is revealed that they didn''t report it earlier so as not to harm their chances? In my opinion there is scum press but also some scum footballers. It is only the truth that matters, but will we ever know it?

Have also heard there is a lot about Gerrard (and his wife) to come out post the world cup. I think that this sort of thing and the Terry fiasco affected morale more than we all thought.

[/quote]To be honest mate, I don''t give a flying fig what footballers do with their private lives. People have affairs, it happens every day, it has sod all to do with their ability to kick a ball. If it affects their game its a matter for the manager, if theres an issue regarding the age of the person involved then its a matter for the police.I''m thoroughly bored of the holier than thou British public expecting sports stars to also be saints.

Dear oh dear. Don''t you realise that the press always love the people who they want to give the jobs to, until they get the job! Then, as always they try to destroy that person. I''m not saying for one moment that Harry has done anything wrong, and would probably like to see him given the chance, but be aware that IF he was ever appointed then the press could and would have a field day as he has been involved in one or two shady deals already according to them.

They seem to enjoy destroying anything that could be good for sport in this country as, you see, it sells papers!

Agree re Harry. He would get away with it initially and for however long we were doing well but eventually it would come back to bite the FA on the backside as the press know masses of stuff about redknapp, they just either can''t quite pin it on him yet or choose not to use it as he is a nice bloke who always has a line for them when they need it. Bit like Linekar really when he had his Mr Clean image. If he was England manager would be a much bigger story and no doubt more incentive for people to drop him in it!
