Tangible Fixed Assets anyone?

Could Wiggins play left midfield?

Recommended Posts

Well from the couple of times I''ve seen him play he looks alright on the ball but I wouldn''t put in ahead of Simon Lappin.

Infact I wouldn''t put him in at all, I think his all round game would be too lightweight.

Given that Lambert loaned in Rose rather than trust Wiggins to fill in, and he''s now brought in Smith on a permanent, I think it''s academic. If he''s not good enough to play in his specialist position he won''t be chucked into a less effective position. Personally I have no idea whether Wiggins is good, bad or indifferent, but Lambert has clearly decided he''s not good enough for L1 let alone the Championship.

I think the key thing is that Smith can also play left midfield, opening up the prospect of Lambert playing both him and Drury. I agree that if Lambert rated Wiggins he wouldn''t have brought Rose in. Lappin''s lack of pace means that he will be a squad player in the Championship in my view.

Although he probably isnt favoured by Lambert there is a small argument that he may well be.

Wiggins wasn''t fit when we signed him as he was getting over an injury and wasn''t fit at the start of the season. Lambert may well have sent him out on loan to get some games under his belt and to be able to assess him from affar and brought in Rose as cover for Drury and who was fully match fit. In addition he could have a good look at Rose and decide if he was good enough for the Championship/top half of League 1.

I should imagine that if anyone goes it will be after the 1st July when most contracts appear to run to and when players enter the last year of their contract etc.

I saw all the few games Wiggins had for the 1st team and some of the reserve games he featured in and to be perfectly honest I was quite impressed with him. He looked quick, alert, comfortable on the ball and tackled well so would have had qualms about him coming in.

But obviously Lambert didn''t rate him, what do I know and hes the man who done so well for us last season!
