Salopian 1 Posted June 5, 2010 With the possible exception of Holt, most of our paid transfers in have been for relatively small amounts.PL is improving the quality of the squad, man for man, and doing it on something of shoestring. We are to have a team of few weaknesses I believe, who, if they all play well together, will be useful in the Championship.I still hope that we may splash out a bigger sum on a player who is a little more, - someone who can turn a match by his own skill and vision.We have someone in that category, - Hooly, who will occasionally provide a flash of genius. His problem is that other teams last season more or less learned eventually how to neutralise his threat . The Champio0nship will learn that much faster.I am growing increasingly confident of a higher place finish next May, even bordering on the top six, but to clinch it we need someone with real skill. Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted June 5, 2010 Those players generally won''t be available untill July, i''m happy to have a strong, solid base with Hoolahan then able to express himself further up the pitch in the knowledge there is a solid base behind him, I think Lambert will want another striker in, he brought in Elliott in League 1 so he''s obviously going to want extra firepower in a higher league.
