Alan 0 Posted November 23, 2004 Pack the midfield on Saturday and rely on breakaways. It might not be pretty but I think its the best chance of a result. They can always bring on fresh legs and a more attacking formation late on.
chirpy canary 0 Posted November 23, 2004 Palace used just these tactics and it worked beautifully for them You''re right, it wasn''t pretty, but 0-1 certainly justified it!
Northern Canary 0 Posted November 23, 2004 probably keep the same winning formation and hope it works again
Ricko 0 Posted November 23, 2004 I''ve advocated this in other posts in response to our tendency to give the ball away too cheaply. I would play Safri in a holding role in front of the back four and have Leon run his socks off along the front line. Everton play this system admirably with Bent up front. I think I might also start with Jonson on the right as this gives a bit more solidity defensively. With Leon and Hux''s pace, Damien''s appetite for getting forward and two good passers in Safri and Mulryne we might do them some damage. If we''re trailing into the second half bring on Svensson and Bentley and revert to a more orthodox 4-4-2.
