Lee Croft Re-signing!

Recommended Posts

Was out and about in the city last night, and happened to bump into Lee croft outside Delanys. After a few minutes of conversation about Derby (as i have been there most of this season at uni) he let it slip that he is coming back to Norwich this season. In my opinion this doesn''t show progress, and is not a favourable signing. I cant see it happening, he probably was back in the city he''d been here a while will know some of the current squad and no doubt has friends in the area. Might have even thought it would be amusing to tell some drunk lads a porky and see how excited they got, from the looks of the picture it worked.

Underated by most and a frequent visitor of Norwich.

I believe he is still friends with some of the team and people in the area. I believe he has been back on quite a number of occaisions so its not a great surprise to me.

As for him resigning, I wouldn''t mind him back. He is a more direct winger and I can''t imagine he would command much of a fee considering his lack of action for Derby.

And as I have said many times before, it would be nice to see how his crossing is when he actually has someone that isn''t Jamie Cureton to cross it too. Leroy Lita isn''t much taller either.

I''ve seen him on a night out before, and one of my mates saw him today. Doesn''t his missus live/come from Cromer? You''re likely to see him about, if so.

Not his biggest fan but at least he could take on a player..final ball left alot to be desired but there was never anyone to get on the end of them back then anyway.Maybe im just blinded by his goal against Ipswich, but as an impact sub he could be very useful.

I think we all know what you get with lee Croft. Yes he is quick and direct but his final ball just isn''t there. I doesn''t really matter who you are crossing to the ball still needs to go in the right areas and he doesn''t do well in that regard.

Not that this is true... (i believe the girlfriend in cromer is true)...

but why would anybody want Croft back???

He was rubbish before; got player of the season because he tried...got a move to Derby (somehow); and suprise suprise, fell out of favour after a couple of months and was never seen again...and thats a very average derby side!!

The lower leagues beckon!

For the sake of looking at this positively, i don''t feel bringing Croft back would be a bad move, whilst not an integral part to our future plans. From what i remember of Croft, his work rate down the right flank was impressive. In this, Jon Otsemobor probably found the best form of his career, as his blatant defensive inadequacies were less ''blatant'' with Croft playing some of the best performances i have seen in a defensive sense for a winger in a City shirt for a fair while. In Russell Martin i feel we have a player that does cause more havoc than Otsemobor in the oppositions half (shouldn''t be the case, but it is), whilst he is capable of performing his defensive duties without being entirely reliable. With Croft we may have a decent option where he and Russell can interchange and utilise their best assetts without jeopardizing our own goal for the sake of doing so.Also, with Croft i feel we can establish another system in the side that may actually be decent, e.g. Croft - Smith - Hughes - McNamee. McNamee, like Croft, has the assett of pace, but needless to say their style is utterly different. Both are willing to attack, perhaps McNamee more explicitly (who Drury i reckon can accommodate for), but with Croft willing to track back we could have two solid flanks, whilst still boasting the serious potential to threaten the opposition. In these two on either side of the midfield we may be able to defeat the ''Roeder'' theory, in saying how balance is only best struck with one attacking wing if you have a defensively minded winger to accommodate them. And, as has been mentioned, he may not be a terrible ''impact sub'' for us either, although i do remember this role seriously testing his patience toward the latter stages of Roeder''s tenure.

I''d be pleased to see him back, I think he''s a good player.

Does Korey Smith play the right hand side of the midfield better than he did?

Lee Croft has no end product.  Last season for us, 3 goals and 7 assists, from an attacking wide player.  Just not good enough.  It doesn''t matter if we have Rooney and Drogba as our strikers, Croft''s crossing is diabolical.

Was sat near me and saw a few coppers come in and escort him out, what did he do?

I sincerely hope not!

I liked his effort but most of the time his huff and puff came to bu gger all!

He were better of without this season and last season was the worst player of the season ever!

I can''t see Croft doing much for Lambert!

What is this fascination for having ex players back? Shouldn''t even be a consideration imo especially when they weren''t very good the first time, anyway we have a different manager with different views now so I think it''s highly unlikely that he would want players that have been here in the past.
