the end of an era

Recommended Posts

after 19 years as a season ticket holder (and 14 years in the same seat) i sadly will not be attending matches from next season.Today was a sad day for me, seeing us lift the trophy was an excellent way to end my regular attendance at games.the players have done us all proud this season and i honestly think in Lambert we have someone who the board must fight tooth and nail to keep for the good of the club.I have felt very proud of the players this season and hope they can continue into next season pushing on up the league, I''ll make the odd game of course, but knowing that for the first time since i was 10 years old i wont be going to carrow road every fortnight will be very hard to stomach.I have missed just 11 home games in that period which is a record i am proud of, safe to say i think we have seen it all in that time!So good bye to Block D, Row U seat 99... i''m sure the next incumbent of the seat will be made to feel welcome by some very good, decent people... and if it''s you who ends up in that seat next season.. look after the old girl for me! (although it was hardly sat on much!)Championes!

If the small cost of a monthly direct debit is making you give up such a  passion I hope to god interest rates dont go up a percent or you will be screwed by the sounds of it.

Why do people have the opinion that paying monthly somehow makes your season ticket cheaper lol?It still adds up to the same price, and if you can''t afford it, you can''t afford it.

No it doesn''t make it cheaper, it does make it easier though, well for me anyway.

it makes ut easier for people who can not afford to pay the full payment in one go, but not cheaper in any way.

I kind of ''no claims bonus'' type discount that gives season ticket holders say 5% off on their 5th renewal, 10% off on their 10th etc. It would have to have a limit thought.

They do em cheap for under 21''s and over 60''s so basically if you started going as a kid with a season ticket you are only going to pay full price for 5 years (if you use AC''s idea) if you intend being a life long supporter. Our club''s pricing is reportedly cheap in comparison to others, it offers interest free credit for 12 months to help you pay. Surely we want them to have the income for the running of the club and progression. If we have to start selling loyalty to a football fan then we have become a joke, and if you''re a fan who feels you need a financial reward to support your club then you are a joke and I am lost for words, well clean ones anyway. Life generally requires you to make certain decisions like choosing how to spend your money, I''ve sympathy for those that can''t afford it, I''ve been there myself but that is life.

The old softy in my wishes you well, Jas, and hopes that your financial situation will one day ensure you get your season ticket back.  I''ve never been a ST holder (never had the money) and I''ve known these past 4 years what its like to miss Carrow Road so much! The mercenary in me, however, is glad that there''ll be one less person at Carrow Road, freeing up seats for my return! The club would have little need for an incentive like this because there is a waiting list for season ticket holders. But if Jas''s seat was going to go empty, of course it''s better for the club to be 10% worse off than 100% worse off as many many clubs would be with their half empty stadiums.

It''s also my last year as a season ticket holder having been one since age 6! Will be moving away so could well be the last season ticket I ever have, felt really weird leaving the Barclay yesterday. Will be getting a membership though so will try and get down for 3/4 games a season. God knows what I''ll do with my Saturdays now.

jas, it will be worth it.  When you first get on the property ladder all you can do is eat sleep and work for the first few years.  I was about two years into my first purchase in the early 1990s when interest rates went up to 12% and then 15% and my neighbours were getting repossessed left right and centre.  As a result I couldn''t afford tickets for the European games in 1993 but I don''t regret it, not much anyway.
