This isn''t a rumour i was just wondering with southampton being stuck in league one again would a player of his calibre want to play the likes of yeovil and hartlepool? Would he be a good addition to our squad or is he too similar to Holty?

When Lambert and others signed for Southampton this is what he bought into - promotion next year, hence the enourmos wages they are paying players.

We struggled to match Brighton for wages last season, Ricki is on probably twice what Holt is on as is Barnard. The players we sign in the summer will no doubt be offered more to play elsewhere. It will come down to them wanting to play for Norwich. Ricki is happy where he is and will no doubt fire the Saints into the Championship next season. Their strike force is frightening... Lambert, Barnard, Connolly, Antonio, Lallana... Sure they''ll add to this in the summer as well.  I''d like to see us trial Ovinds Hoas... 6ft 8 striker from Norway. He''s scored well over there and was linked to us a season or so ago. I think he came over and trialled at a few English clubs but went back home and continued to score... He''d be a risk but maybe one worth taking... He''d be 10 times cheaper than Ricki... (maybe not as prolific mind you.... but as a back up... He''s a monster of a man to bring off the bench!)

Southampton is the 4th wealthiest club in the Uk. They don''t need to sell anybody and there is no way they would sell Lambert.

Ricki would''nt come here. They have no reason to sell so you''d be looking at 3 million at least. This Norwegian fella sounds rather like a certain czech player we once signed. What was his name again...? David someoneorother

The issue with Strivavka (the spelling eludes me as well) was that the Czech league is very different to our league... The Scandinavian leagues on the other hand are a little closer to ours in terms of speed and style. Hoas was just a name i thought was worth a mention... One of probably hundreds of names that will no doubt be bounded around on this website this summer whilst Lambert sits on a beach in his speedos and ray bans on,  Agatha Christie novel in one hand and a can of Iron Bru in the other.  :)

I''d argue that the Scandinavian league is more akin to the Scottish league minus the old firm. I have very limited knowledge of Scandinavian football even with the bigger clubs like Gothenburg and Brondby.

It probably is in terms of standard... but the pace and style is very British... They like to get the ball forward and are used to having a physical battle - More so than the Czech league and most of the other mainland European leagues (imo)Hoas being 6''8 is pretty much used to players babbling around his feet like insects. :)

They paid a million for him, he subsequently was the top scorer in league 1 therefore they would be looking for nearer 2 million for him now probably.

As an aside, it shows me how useless the 10 point deduction for going into administration really is. Basically Southampton have been able to got into administration,  stick two fingers up at their creditors, and re-emerge as a very wealthy club, who in all probability will be in the Championship next year. Personally I think the punishement should be "tiered" such that clubs that re-emerge as very wealthy have a 10 point deduction for two/three seasons, making it a true punishment.
