CharlieFarlie 0 Posted April 30, 2010 From the pinkun website, "Holt''s problem has been with him all season, but these will be the first league matches he has missed through injury; his five absences have been through suspension. However, Lambert paid tribute to his skipper''s resilience.“There were times in training when you saw him, but he just battled on and got on with it, so we knew we had to get him through games and he did it and he has been brilliant,” he said." OMG if he has had this all season how many would he have scored if fully fit ! Next season he should be on fire , what a legend !
TheNewBoy 0 Posted April 30, 2010 There is probably not a 29 year old professional footballer alive who hasn''t played a season with an injury, it''s nothing unusual. Yes the man is a legend, yes he is as hard as nails, but to put it into perspective...... Ledley King plays with no knee cartilidge, Dion Dublin played with a metal place holding his neck together, more players than you will ever know still risk all with injections every week to get through to pre-season.... A particular premier league player managed 12 games with a double hernia before having an operation! Not sure whether you have ever had a stomach hernia, but they are quite possibly the most excrutiating thing that anybody could experience without a serious risk of death.... I had one and couldn''t even sleep or walk.... Grant Holt hard man? Yes. Anything unusual or special? No. A certain Darren Huckerby managed half a season without telling anybody about his hip problem, remember that?He won''t be the only city player in pain matey.... Those with serious injuries never really make a ''full recovery''.... Dean Ashton was injured every week for us too..... every time he was off the ball he was stretching muscles and just getting through..... Grant Holt is a legend for playing on for us this year, but it has probably taken a year off of his career. When you look at pros who get serious injuries in their senior careers, you would be very suprised to know how many of those injuries have been existent since they were teenagers.... My right leg still buckles sometimes as a result of an ankle injury sustained at 14, I''m now mid twenties.....
