Bill 1,788 Posted April 20, 2010 A fair measure of what Lambert has achieved can be gauged by where many of the team have come from Nelson. McNamee, Gill, Rose, Holt, McVeigh, MacDonald, Johnson, Whitbread, Martin - from Div 1 or lowerSmith, Martin, Spillane, Adeyemi, Daley, Rudd - from the youth teamDocherty, Russel. Lappin - back from the ''dead''Forster loans at Div 1 or lowerWhich does prove the worth of a good manager and coaching squad. We spend heavily in the season we went down. I''m not sure how much has been spent in wages and fees this time but it does look like who Lambert wanted, Lambert got (though within obvious parameters). As to how well this lot of ''lower orders'' will do when we step up is anyone''s guess. But an indication maybe Bowkett''s words"Our task at Norwich City is a simple one - we must start winning football matches. It will be the board''s responsibility to ensure that we have the appropriate resources to do that, both human and financial"So far he has delivered. At the moment nothing suggests it won''t continue.
Ivana_rubyatitz 6 Posted April 20, 2010 Agreed. The evidence of our own history supports this as well - our successful teams in the 80''s and early 90''s were built around players picked up from the lower leagues (or Spurs reserves) and who were hungry to make an impact. Think Phelan, Bruce, Drinkell etc...If we went back down that route I would not complain.
