Snoots 0 Posted April 25, 2010 I have never heard so much praise for Norwich on national radio in all my life. Thanks you so very much - it was brilliant.

Snoots 0 Posted April 25, 2010 Dion made reference to the fact that when he retired from football it could not have been with a better club than Norwich. That the Norwich fans are tremendous and that when we were 9 points adrift (not sure what this referred to) there were still 25k fans turning out every two weeks to support the club. And that 21K fans had already bought tickets for next season . Also, that planning permission had been obtained to increase capacity again ?). Spoony mentioned that the account manager at his bank, Paul,is an ardent Norwich supporter and they spend at least 30 minutes talking about Norwich and football. The founder of Capital Canaries (sorry didn''t get his name) spoke really well, mentioned that he had supprted the club for 70 years (?) and was a credit to the club he supports. Almost 5 minutes of prime time natioal radio, it was so rare to hear so much positive stuff about my club after 50 years of supporting Norwich that I have to admit that it brought a tear to my eye. It has since become known as '' Capital Canaries ''and members had a most enjoyable pre and post match get together at The Savoy Tup, off The Strand, before the Charlton match. This was the pub where the first meetings were held courtesy of City fan Colin Keatley who now runs the famous Fat Cat pub in Norwich.Mike has indeed been supporting City for 70 years and is one of the most enthusiastic champions - and eloquent speakers - of all things yellow and green that I''ve had the pleasure to have known. If the term '' glass half full '' applies to anybody it applies to Mike, who, even in our days of darkest despair would always look on the bright side of supporting this fine club of ours.Unsurprisingly perhaps Mike- an iconic fixture at the Capital Canaries AGM''s - was born and bred in Norfolk and consequently has a habit of slipping seamlessly into full dialect mode as and when the mood takes him. But he is perhaps best known for instigating a full-blooded rendition of '' On The Ball City '' echoing round the room at each and every meeting he attends...... Tim Allman 1 Posted April 26, 2010 The telephone caller to 6-0-6 was indeed Michael Garrard, and well done to Michael for his eloquence on national radio. He is one of the original members of the Capital Canaries and if you have a some time to spare he’ll tell you how he used to walk up and down the Norwich/London train before and after matches looking for traces of yellow and green clothing amongst the passengers. Anyone he suspected of being an exiled City fan would get the sales pitch about joining London Association of the Norwich City Supporters Club, now known as the Capital Canaries. He’s a proper old school City fan and a real character. a1canary 0 Posted April 26, 2010 Well that makes i nice contrast to that BAFOON Alan Green who i had listened to on Saturday evening. A city fan rang in to talk about Norwich and Green just gave him 10 seconds, said "well done" and moved on to the next caller to talk about arsenal. I was so incensed i sent him an abusive text. Shame he didn''t read it! It actaully said at the end "please bring back Spoony or Chappers" so i will definintely listen to yesterday''s 606 on iplayer. It''s so obvious with Green doing 606 that he knows NOTHING about any team outside the Prem.GET HIM OFF!!

I think I have heard Michael Garrard on Canary Call earlier this season, he has a pretty distinctive voice. His call on Radio 5 yesterday certainly provoked the most heart warming discussion (and nothing condescending or patronising) about the Canaries that I have ever heard or seen on the national media. I will try and attend a forthcoming Capital canaries meeting as I would like to meet him.
