Morty,

What is your problem with people expressing their opinion?

We''re happy for the team, Lambert and crew, McNally and co and the fans but that doesn''t mean that people should overlook what happened in order for NCFC to land back in the third tier of football for the first time in 50 years. We have to hope that going forward, Lambert, McNally and Bowkett are left to get on with it and that sufficient money is provided to Lambert to strengthen the team.

There are many others on this thread of a like mind who wish Lambert, McNally and Bowkett well. May be you should join us in our positive thoughts instead of moaning.

It''s quite clear to me. Delia and Michael are great loyal supporters who decided to buy the Club.

They have done some great things but also IMHO have allowed personal friendships and loyalties cloud their judgement on crucial decisions.

Finally, they had the sense to hand the day to day over to professional people like Bowkett and McNally and this professionalism has filtered down.

This is why people employ solicitors for important decisions along with other like dispassionate specialists. And this is why Clubs with Chair Persons with huge egos and a hands on approach to boot seldom do well.

At Norwich now Bowkett Chairs, McNally runs the Club; Lambert manages the team; Culverhouse and Crook coach; the players play etc etc. And in their dotage the owners enjoy. Shame they didn''t do this years ago but then again that nice boy Neil Doncaster was another example of patronage over business acumen.

Perhaps the title of this thread should be congratulating two decent and well meaning individuals for getting to grips with themselves. Sometime we all need to do this but we don''t all own football clubs.

Who hates Delia?.....Just because the majority of fans don''t sing ''Delia''s Barmy Army'' anymore....doesn''t mean she''s hated.

Why don''t the majority of the support sing ''Delia''s Barmy Army'' anymore? Are the minority in the majority....or the majority in the minority?

WHY DON''T THE MAJORITY OF THE NCFC SUPPORT SING ''DELIA''S BARMY ARMY''....anymore?
Good question.
Why is that a good question Tangie[:^)] It looks like a load of old pony to me[:O]

Did the majority of NCFC support ever sing "Delia''s Barmy Army"? I know I didn''t, did you? I remember when it was cool to replace "Worthingtons Green & Yellow Army" with "Delia''s Barmy Army" but I''m afraid it never caught on with me. I don''t remember "Watling''s Army" ringing out from the Barclay I only remember that "Zigger Zagger song" from the 60''s about him! And were we ever "Chase''s Army"? As if!!!

What is a good question is why did Paul Lambert say "For the football club, the fans, Delia [Smith] and Michael, who have taken a lot of criticism over the years, I’m absolutely delighted.”? Why was he pleased for them?

Maybe it''s because unlike some of the fickle fans on here they stuck by their club through good times and bad. I''m pleased for them, I think the OP was pleased for them, are you pleased for them Tangie?
I''ve stuck by the club through the good and bad times....I''ve not always stuck by those at the helm.

But then, I''m an alleged/supposed big fat geordie anchor....

Although, I did manage to get a ticket for yesterday at Charlton. Ha''way the Canaries!

Personally, I feel that criticism directed at them was justified...although, I didn''t condone vitriolic and abusive criticism directed at the Majority Shareholders.

Why don''t the fans sing ''Delia''s Barmy Army'' anymore?....What was it that made them stop?

Eh? Have the fans forgot the words?
I never suggested you hadn''t stuck by them Mello. I was referring to those that didn''t. I was referring to those who started endless threads about "not renewing season tickets" and "boycotting games"  . Those who ridiculed fans like you, I and the majority shareholders who stuck with the club through good times and bad. You may well be a "Geordie Tubster" but you didn''t turn your back on your "2nd team" when the going got tough so credit where credit is due[:^)]

I agree that much of the criticism directed at the majority shareholders upon our relegation was justified and the illinformed vitriolic and abusive criticism was not. At the end of last season, after the Charlton game, Smith & Jones stated that "we can''t go on like this and things must change". Nobody, not you and certainly not me, expected things to change so quickly. Nobody in their wildest dreams expected or even thought it was possible that we would win this league easily. Take a look at other clubs, big clubs who have slipped down. Manchester City stars only got back through the play-offs on penalty kicks. So did Sheffield Wednesday. Nottingham Forest took three seasons to return. Leeds have been down three seasons now. The OP on this thread weas trying to give Smith & Jones some credit for this. It seems Paul Lambert agrees with them. And I certainly do.

One of your whinges today is about whether Lambert will have money to spend in the summer. Well, here''s a challenge for you! As one of the NCISA commitee who recommended that supporters deprive the club of income by claiming their rebates, why don''t you become pro-active instead and raise some funds for the club? I know your father raised large amounts in the past so who better to help our club at this time of need? The rebates reportedly cost the club over £1m but I feel sure that you with your financial expertise and contacts would be able to raise a similar amount in no time. What do you reckon Tangy? I feel sure it would be more rewarding than whinging on here.

Two-thirds of season ticket holders claimed their rebate, and it sent out a message to the board that even they couldn''t ignore.

It was instrumental in leading to changes in the boardroom and subsequently the arrival of Paul Lambert.  Worth every single penny.

Tangy is whinging about whether there will be money for Lambert in the close season amongst other things and I was pointing out that his position as a NCISA commitee member, which showed it had influence regarding the rebates, could use that same influence to raise money for the club to help buy players. It''s clearly something he feels strongly about as he''s mentioned it several times on here so why not start the ball rolling with NCISA''s support?
Inconveniently for this argument, the boardroom changes were set in motion by the sacking of Munby and Doncaster - and that happened on May 12th. Foulger didn''t even make his offer on the rebate until late May, and the deadline for fans to make up their minds was in late June, by which time McNally had already been chief executive for some weeks and Smith and Jones were in the process of persuading Bowkett to become chairman. The announcement that he had agreed came just a few days later, on July 2.So the decision by many fans to claim the rebate was not in the slightest way instrumental in prompting the boardroom changes.

I cant let this go  bye without making a comment. This was always going to happen wasnt it. Delia nearly destroys our club, we get religated to the third tier because of consistantly making the wrong decisions at board level, even after the disaster of the end of last season Delia continues yet again to back a completely inadequate manager in Gunn, Mcnally essentially has to grab the reigns out of her hands to do a decent job himself, and Delia gets all the credit. Come on wake up, we are all misty eyed over events this season, I have loved it, I have actually enjoyed going to some of the more lowly clubs and grounds, it`s been great, but dont let it all get in the way of the truth.  Delia has taken this club down and down, talk to anyone who has worked closely with her, talk to Andrew Cullen who left cos he couldnt stand it any more. Delia was power crazed and would not take advice, the only way to get her to make the correct footballing decisions was to make her think that it was her idea in the first place.  She was pushed into  a situation where she had no choice but to let go, I will give her credit for that and for what has happened since, but let`s keep a sence of reality here.

You seem to see her as someone akin to Hitler, but would he have relinquished power so readily? I think not.I think it''s much more likely she personally liked Munby & Doncaster &, so far as I can see, nobody had a bad word for Munby & Doncaster seemed very amiable, intelligent - & accessible - whenever I saw him. Unfortunately their track record at running the club proves they were bloody useless. And if it was really D & M making all the decisions, the above just being "yes men", D & M would have gone out & found a different set of "yes men". That''s how tyrants work.Far more likely that they appointed amiable professionals who they liked, then let them (by & large) get on with it.I''m willing to believe they are the reincarnation of Adolf & Eva, but I''d need some solid evidence first. And not just a failing football club, otherwise 90% of clubs are being run by such people.

I think the Adolf analogy is pushing it a bit Ron, even for me, as far as the way Delia has behaved in the past and the views of some very senior people at the club who had the misfortune to work with her, I can only tell you the things I have heard on occasions from the horses mouth. I hold her responsible in large part for our demise over recent years. Things have only turned a corner because she has stopped interferring.

If Delia and Michael hadn''t been majority shareholders....would they have also sacked themselves?

As members of the then floundering board of Director''s....they were as culpable as the other members.

The ''Turner Two'' departure....Business reasons? Mmmh?.....Who knows?

Maybe Mr Doncaster was on his SFA bike anyway....and Roger didn''t look too chipper towards the end of last season....

Mr Foulger? He remains on the board, as I suppose none of the failures could be attributed to him....

I think Delia and Michael would much prefer an investor with a considerable amount of disposable dosh....than stand aside for a new owner with wonga.

But we''re not talking about last seasons failures. They were done and dusted during the summer and in the autumn. We are now talking about this seasons success.

Why would anyone want to wallow in previous failures when we are about to be crowned champions?

I certainly dont want to wallow in previous failures but am not prepared to accept an attempt to spin recent history, cause and effect, without passing comment. If you ignore the lessons of history you are likely to make the same mistakes again!

The reality was described quite well in a recent Observer article. Norwich is a ''fanatically supported community Club''. Who should take credit for this if not Delia and Michael? I remember Chase demanding gates of 16,000 in order to break even. Now that was ''little Norwich''! I look at the farce of the premiership with proud Clubs like Man u/L''pool, Chelsea and Arsenal, all basically owned and run by overseas capitalists and short term asset strippers. Yet some posters on here are so parochial that they seem to resent a ''stowmarket'' connection. Maybe try having your Club run by an Icelandic consortium if you want to see your dreams fade and die (or turn to ashes). These are no doubt the same posters who decry ''lack of ambition''. I wonder how much ambition, vision and courage these same critics have shown in their own lives? Do you fancy changing places with billionaires, QPR? How about ambitious Gippeswyk with their big name Manager and high finance owner? Delia did not take us up nor did she take us down, but her stewardship has ensured that the Norwich project remains one of the most exciting and respected in English football. ''Lets be having you'' mark2.
