Constructive criticism

Recommended Posts

Why are we not allowed to criticise the team or indeed Paul Lambert?A common theme amongst this messageboard after recent games i.e last night and v Tranmere is that ''you''re not allowed to criticise because we''re top!'' I''m sorry but I dont accept that.Yes we''ve done brilliantly well to get top but surely this doesnt mean that we cant criticise after rubbish performances? Yes we probably will get promoted but if people feel that the team isnt doing as well as it has been then they should be allowed to give their views without being branded a ''negative poster''. One recent example is Paul Lambert. Various posters have questioned his team selections and have been answered with replies ''you werent complaining when we were winning week in week out!''. We all want the best for our club so surely if we feel that we have a view that could help us understand why and where we''re going wrong we should be allowed to say it.I''m prepared for the inevitable slating that my posts get but these are my views.OTBC

Criticism is fine where its due.Infantile and pathetic knee jerk reactions will be treated with the disdain they deserve.
Interesting post CT. Care to show some examples of these acts that cause you such outrage?
Its not outrage. Its just a realisation that even though we''re top, we should be allowed to criticise.Neil Adams for example on Canary call last night. The bloke who said ''I dont think we''ve been on form for the last few games''. Adams replied every time by saying ''we''re top of the league so stop your moaning''. So if we lose every game from now until the end of the season but still go up top we should criticise? I dont think so.

I quite liked his team selection yesterday. I thought playing the diamond with Oli offering directness at the tip might have worked sadly it didn''t. So it''s back to the drawing board. The one thing you can''t legislate for regardless of tactics or performance is giving away 2 awful goals like we did yesterday. They were 2 big hopeful balls into the box and we simply didnt deal with them. If you give goals away like that you will always struggle.

The problem is that you want carte blanche to snipe when things go badly, yet when we win the title you''ll be passing yourself off as a diehard believer. Support is about getting behind the players and managers when they REALLY need it, not trying to second guess Lambert or slagging off the players who got us here to try to make yourself look clever.

I think its easy for everyone to pick a team, but ultimately the choice is that of the managers. He sees them every day in training, he knows their attitude and personality and we need to trust his decision making. He will make good decisions (i.e. geting more strikers on against Southend and winning us the game) and he will make bad decisions. I was not at the game last night but have heard the diamond didn''t really work.

We need to allow it and get behind the team of players on the pitch. We may be disappointed but they need our support to push them over the line with a couple more wins. Then we can all celebrate, dust ourselves down and group together, again trust PL to make any tough decisions on who is needed and who isn''t and look forward to next season.

I want to be able to celebrate fantastic wins week in week out- however when we play badly we should be allowed to give our views (even if they wont be positive).Whats wrong with that?
Whoever said you''re not allowed to criticise then?  Go on, pick a post on here...
Its not really ''you''re not allowed to criticise'' posts. Its more snidey little comments like ''we''re top of the league so shut up'' and '' well *insert players name here* was playing when we were winning week out so he is clearly undroppable''.Oh and Morty. My point is allowed we SHOULD be allowed to be negative (though that is maybe a little strong) after bad performance.
I agree, theres a fine line between constructive criticism and criticism for the sake of it. I have a few thoughts about our team id happily suggest, but theres so many people on here who say ''If X was playing we would win.'' ''If we took Lappin out we would do better'' - Lets face it, no one knows, we can only speculate. Doesnt stop some people describing it as fact though.
