More points than 1972 Champions and others

Recommended Posts

72 we won the title with 57 points

42 games - 21 wins, 15 draws.

(2 points for a win)

so @ 3 points = 78 points

(average of 1,85 points a game).

46 games works out at 85.4 points.

1986 we won the title with 84 points

25 wins, 9 draws

1982 third place with 71 points

22 wins, 5 draws

2004 we won the title with 94 points

28 wins, 19 draws - and 86 goals

2010 on 82 points with

won 25, drawn 7 - and 81 goals

thump Tranmere, and a few of those records will go

It is inevitable that we will get more than 84/5 points and I think we will get more than 94 aswell however I don''t think we will get 100 points.  My prediction this year, 99 points, 8 games left, win 5, draw 2, lose 1.

"You can''t really compare winning the Championship with winning League One though."

That presumes the teams were equal and that we are now playing beneath our standing.

We are in this league because we were not good enough to stay in the Championship, therefore we are playing against our equals.

Also the comparison was points gained in promotion seasons, this is, I think we can all accept, a promotion season.
