Trouble after game

Recommended Posts

Can anyone confirm reports of a city fan being stabbed after the game today? The Leeds fans were an absolute disgrace but surely even they wouldn''t have gone this far over a football match? Especially as 2 Leeds fans suffered the same fate after that Galatasaray game a few years back. The situations that arose all over the city today were disgusting but alot of the trouble could have been prevented by the police holding the Leeds fans back for 10 mins after the game, does anyone know why this didn''t happen? Also the police levels outside the ground before and after the game were remarkably low.Today has really taken any last bit of shine off of a club that has a great history and some really genuine fooball fans, all spoiled by a vile few.Anyway, rant over.

I think Leeds fans have a worse reputation than Millwall, and rightly so. I think a minority of Leeds fans are so vile that they are causing Leeds to get a very very poor reputation.

There was an announcement made to the away area during the game, couldnt hear it but assume it concerned keeping them in after the game, other posts on here would seem to confirm that. Why then when I was walking up towards the Yarmouth Road after leaving the game did I witness gangs of Leeds yobs threatening people young and old and some with kids. where did they come from if they were supposed to be kept in the ground. Why was some of this happening near the crossing behind the hotel in the full view of a group of police officers who were either discussing the weather or chose to completely ignore it. I`m not a police basher but they need to answer some questions tonight!
I think there should be an offical enquiry about this. NO WAY should leeds fans be let out until at least 20mins after everyone else and if they were the person responsible should be sacked.

From what I know, alot of Leeds fans came down without tickets to sample the ''atmosphere''. That might account for them getting amongst the home fans very quickly. If they were let out of the ground at the same time as the home fans then it was asking for trouble, given their reputation. I made a dash for the station straight after the whistle through the Riverside and didn''t see any trouble.

It''s probably rubbish, some people get a kick out of starting disturbing rumors like this and considering knife crime isn''t very common in British hooliganism and Leeds vs Norwich doesn''t have much previous I find this rumor hard to believe.

I thought there was a Leeds fan amongst us in the Jarrold. As someone had an air horn and used it when Fraser went for his goal kick. But then in the second half they did it when Higgs went to take his kicks.. so it was either a stupid Leeds, or stupid Norwich fan...

have seen more trouble today than the rest of the season put together. Also over heard a copper saying there has been more arrests today than the whole season. There was trouble on prince of Wales road after game with 5 police vans turning up with armed response backing them up. Leeds are seriously dirty fans... Did you see any kids or women??? No nor did I... Just skinheads in labels.
Haven''t heard about any stabbings but I hear they''ve kicked off in Dereham this evening. I wish the FA would come down hard on scum like that.
Having been in and around Dereham at lunchtime this wouldn''t surprise me.  A lot of Leeds fans in the town centre, probably 4-500.  You could hear the songs from the Red Lion throughout the square, pint pots left in the streets, a lot of them in the Phoenix in Dereham aswell, 20-40 year olds mainly, getting more wobbly as the day wore on - although there was no trouble from them pre-match, although I was a bit worried as I wearing a coat with the Norwich badge on it - there was a bit of an atmosphere around the place, but you could put that down to beer and northern monkey swagger. From a support of a couple of thousand, you''ve probably got 50-100 nutters, which to be fair is more than most clubs carry - the rest of their lot are probably tucked up in bed and dreaming of a play-off final.

I got spat at before the game but the muppet missed luckily! There were a couple of Leeds fans walking round the hotel and chanting shit about us so I simply replied "enjoy the play offs". It did not go down too well I think they are a bit touchy about it!

I''m not sure if the away fans were ''let'' out, when I walked past there were a few outside the gates forcing them open then a load came out. I dont think they were supposed to be let out. Also when a steward tried to stop them a few poeple attacked him, whilst this was going on most of the bloody police were round the corner guarding the hotel.

I doubt we will see them next year but really the police and club need to get there act together.

The continued traffic down King Street when the fans are pouring out of the ground needs to be sorted before some one is severly injured. Today all the empty bottles from the restaurant where in bins outside the ground just waiting to be used as misiles and why were the Leeds fans allowed to stand all through the game?

Having said that wasn''t is a wonderful day and wasn''t the chanting from the Norwich fans just fantastic. had a great day in the Barclay!

You were very lucky. One bloke gobbed into my face outside the Barclay. He was told to f*** off and enjoy league one next season.

I agree with all the sentiments on here. There was 0 policeman outside the jarrold straight after the final whistle (they were out by the holiday inn). An old bor got shoved by a leeds "fan" and it got a bit edgy. It was clear that the Leeds fans were being let out, I could see them leaving the gates. A couple of them were swearing and being abusive, policemen again just looking on. Cars were coming down Carrow Road from Yarmouth Road, causing more disorder. Quite frankly the police really have to look at themselves, a really shoddy job today. There has only really been two games where the police have needed to be active: Millwall on Boxing day (for obvious reasons) and today, and they did a bad job tonight. I guess all that money we spend on policing is value for money...

One guy on WACCOE is claiming that he saw Norwich fans with kids threatening Leeds fans and he was surprised at how aggressive our fans were, apparently Leeds coaches also had bottles thrown at them on their way to the ground.

I was walking past the train station after the game with my parents, we said "blimey what a lot of policemen", "some them have dogs". We then continued to chat about the game as we approached the bus stop I was tripped and kicked respectively by Leeds fans and my Step-dad was pushed and "squared up to", then a middle aged woman, presumably part of their group started screaming abuse at us. We were at a standstill around ten feet apart and they were telling us to "walk on" etc. But one guy was insisting "I''ll be following" and proceeded to do so as we walked away. At this point I thought it precient to jog over to a policemen, who happened to be looking in the opposite direction. I said "There are some Leeds fans attacking people over there, could you come and help?" He said "where?" I said "Over there" pointing towards the incident, which was ongoing. He said "where specifically?" I jogged on to the next two policemen, and had the same exchange. Eventually they came over and while they were trying to drag the guy away from my Step-dad, the guy shoved one of the coppers. At this point we went on our way and had a lovely pint. Considering I could see at least ten police from where the incident happened I think the police force need to sort themselves out. Leeds, well I only hate Leeds and Ipswich, and I hope we adopt this modifyed version of the old "Only hate Wolves and Ipswich" song.

Trouble before and after the game.

I was walking to the ground about 2.45 and suddenly 6 police cars/vans showed up outside the holiday inn with blue lights on. Saw some thugs having a row with police not sure if they were Norwich or leeds. On the way home up clarence road there was a bad mix of home and away fans plus cars. I saw one norwich guy getting abused by Leeds fans, police escorted him away for his own safety. I''ve not seen anything like that for years at home games.

Norwich vastly outnumbered them before the match, 300 norwich  outside compleat angler to there 100 or so. Police there with batons, dogs etc.
