Quick one before work, just back from the game

Forster - 7 pulled off a couple of good stops, not perfect, but pretty good
R martin - 8 consistently did well going forward and defending
Doherty - 6 shakey but Improved as the team did in 2nd half.
Nelson - 8 Less shakey and some crucial tackles when it was 1-0
Rose - 7.5 Shakey first half but immense 2nd half, i was very impressed, absolute athlete.
Lappin - 7 some good balls into the box, battled well, nothing special though.
Smith - 8 another domintating game as expected
Russell - 7 took a while to get back into the swing of things, but then looked class as the team gelled 2nd half
Holt - 9 MOM absolute hero, goal and an assist and a whole lot more, frustrated 1st half but top drawer second half
Hoolahan - 8 at his tricky best, some clever play got us ticking eventually
Martin - 6 tried and battled well but not a lot more than that

Elliot - 8.5 considering 30 mins and 2 well taken goals, nuff said, stretched their defence like martin couldn''t

Lambert - 8 exellent sub and tactics came through in the end when it seemed he''d been outdone in first half
Russell Martin -8 !!!!?????????!!!!!!!!!!! - you''ve got to be having a laugh ??, He was easily our weakest link and didn''t cut out an attack down Huddesfield''s left all afternoon, needs to be replaced by Spillane ASAP !!

Went to the game so here are mine:Forster - 7 Made some good saves after we had taken the leadR Martin - 6 Looked a bit dodgy first half but improved secod halfDoherty - 6 Not one of his best games looked shakey at timesNelson - 8 Very good solid job. Wassnt convinced by Nelson at all when he first came into the side but he has gone on to do a good jobRose - 7 Have to admit before today wasnt at all convinced by him and although first half he wasnt brilliant second half he was pretty goodLappin - 7 One of his best games of recent times and a great ball into the box for one of the goalsSmith - 8 Was awesome all game and he continue to impresses me more and more every gameRussell - 7 Took him a while to get into the swing of things but got better as game went onHolt - 9 Fantastic performance and great to see after a bit of quiet spell rescently. Had a hand in all three goalsHoolahan - 7 Drifted in and out of the game but when he had the ball he was pretty clinical with itMartin - 6 Pretty quite game for Martin Elliot - 8 Came on and got 2 goals. Both pretty easy but still done all he could have done and stuck his chances in the back of the net
Sorry Jimmy but got to significantly disagree with several of those. Still at least it was a great result from a pretty poor performance. Forster - 3 Completely asleep for the goal and nearly caught napping on a couple of occassions later. Kicking usual standard. Fortunately despite their first half possession Huddersfield didnt produce many direct threats. R Martin - 1 Absolutely shocking. Bypassed regularly and with ease. Probably the worst performance I''ve ever seen by a City right back. Doherty - 7 Another good performance and more or less held together an extremely flakey defence in the first half. Nelson - 6 Couple of dodgy moments but generally did OK. Rose - 7 Worried me early on but improved significantly as the game went on. Played an important role going forward as we finally got into the game. Lappin - 9 MOM Worked hard throughout and virtually all the decent balls forward came from him. One of the few in the side that has a footballing brain. Smith - 6 Lots of energy and had some good moments but still a way to go. Russell - 6 Again plenty of effort but not too much end product. OK for first game back. Holt - 7 Worked hard throughout and got his goal but like the whole team only really effective in the last 20 minutes Hoolahan - 5 Couple of good moments but spent most of his time running into blind alleys and giving the ball away. Not his day. Martin - 4 Didn''t actually notice him until he was subbed. Elliot - 8.5 Pretty encouraging really, would have liked to seen him on a bit earlier Lambert - 6 Seems a bit harsh considering the result but felt he should have changed things earlier. Even though we improved at the start of second half we were still not remotely threatening until he finally made a change Fans - 9.5 Really good support and, boy was it needed first half.
There''s always one dickhead.

My observations:Forster made his usual one fantastic save in the match.  Other than that never really asked to do much after the first 20 minutes.Rose and Martin were both under the cosh in the first 20 minutes and frankly it was quite scary.  Rose recovered first, Martin took longer, but the game changed in the second half when Lambert told them both to push on, from then on they weren''t troubled.Apart from the goal, when Nelson lost Trottman, he then never really put a foot wrong and I was actually impressed by him.  The Doc didn''t have his best game, but thankfully kept his arms away from their forwards, so no costly fouls.Rusty looked just that in the first half.  Certainly needed the game, but was getting back on the pace by the end.Lappin was okay, certainly with his delivery, but like others in the tackle he was not quite up to the mark.  Showed passion when celebrating the third though, really sharing the love with the crowd.Smith was solid enough, would like to see him do more going forward, but can''t fault his work effort.Hoolahan as usual struggled to make any impact until the second half (he always comes alive as the opposition tires), one of his quieter games I beleive.Martin certainly had a poor game for him, well off the pace, and his touch was also poor today.  No surprise he was subbed.  Replaced by Elliot who showed he could be a good "sniffer" around the box if the chances are there.  A new dilemna for Lambert, Elliot may well be worth starting at away games where we might be able to make chances on the break.  Martin still the one to start at home.Holt was fantastic other than the sitter he missed in the first half.  Controlled the game, the referee and the opposition using his guile and his experience superbly.  The way he won the ball for the second was brilliant.Lambert changing the game in the second half by pushing the full backs forward was again a positive and bold move.  Great turn out by the fans, 3,600 to Uddersfield is fantastc as it is off the beaten track.  They were positive throughout - yes they did start to sing for MacNamee, but only because they wanted more positive approach play, which was achieved anyway.  All seemed to have faith that we were going to win - such a massive change.  I enjoyed standing throughout as well.  A nice bonus.  Even met Ed Balls too.Brilliant day out, with good beers at Sheffield Tap, Head of Steam as well.
