[quote user="promotion chasing CT "]What does Delia Smith joining Waitrose have to do with the footballing side of NCFC?

Seems like its news for news sake.

I kind of see what you mean, but given the proportion of her wealth that goes into the club, the more she has the more we get.

Unless at has escaped your notice (probably not too difficult!) Delia Smith is joint-majority shareholder of Norwich City, as another poster has pointed out if it helps the club financially, I deem it newsworthy.

The club are stuffed, if they don''t report it they get criticised, if they do report it they get criticised by people who want to increase their post count!

No..... well he is.... but he also has a deep rooted hatred for DS, that''s why he used to lick Wiz''s arse so much.

Anyway, back to the point, I thought DS and MWJ had connections with Sainsburys?

I thought MWJ owned or had some connection with the magazine too. I imagine that that the offer would be substantial to move her over or now that Sainsburys has Jamie, they don''t need her.

One of the best supermarkets you can get. I would say that it does better food than M&S and a hell of lot better than Tesco, Asda, Lidl etc, there for poor people and/or Pikeys.

Waitrose and M&S are on a par qualitywise. That''s why you don''t find the two in the same town.Waitrose has been sourcing foods locally and using fair trade ethics for almost as long as Co-op (I believe). Personally I think Delia being to Waitrose is a great bit of kudos. They are perceived as expensive but, as with all supermarkets, only in certain ranges in my experience. Generally I find Sainsbury''s more expensive than Tesco and Asda despite them trying to make out they aren''t. A lot depends upon what you buy on a regular basis.

I''ve been asked to remove cycle clips in the shop.

" Waitrose and M&S are on a par qualitywise"

Not quite true. An in-law''s partner used to work for M&S food retail and always claimed that their main selling point was packaging and ''snob value''. The Observer used to run blind tasting on various foods and M&S usually featured lower down than wopuld be expected.

Waitrose does far more specialist foods and keeps it''s prices a bit higher to keep out the riff raff (cycle clips or not).

In some warped way it doesn''t reflect badly on the club to have her associated with the higher end of the market. I''m not sure if Waitrose would want some of the lower orders that frequent the lower barclay and the snakepit in their stores. They are more your Lidl types I''m afraid.

Oi I use Lidl''s from time to time! And Aldi. And I sit in the Lower Barclay [;)]In fact, I go where I can get the foods I want, not the foods the store wants to try and sell me. Yes, it takes a bit longer but then I''m a satisifed customer. That''s interesting about the blind tasting sessions. I do like Waitrose because, as you say C1, they do have a good selection of specialist foods that other stores don''t stock. Also no bad thing to be linked with this end of the market, as I said before.

" What is a Lidl type?"

A poor person usually. Someone who would probably watch ITV and look at the pictures in the Sun.

They often have a slightly unpleasant whiff of chip fat I have found.

MWJ does own the company that produces the Sainsbury mag.  Also Delia used to do some work for Sainsbury - but Jamie Oliver was the face.  Not surprising, but she used to be in the Sainsbury mag quite a lot.

What I think is interesting about her work with Sainsbury is what impact it will have on the club.  This is what she said about it:

“Yes, it will aid Norwich City in a very positive way - more on which we''ll announce very soon.”

Okay City 1st, work this one out. I stand (not sit) at the back of Block E of the Barclay and shop at Morrisons and Sainsburys. Would shop at Waitrose if I lived nearer, but I can see Morrisons from my house, so can walk there, therefore saving time and money.

I occasionally trek up to Aldi on Plumstead Rd, which like Lidl has high quality food from Germany and the Netherlands, just no fancy packaging or mass advertising. I also shop for fruit veg and meat on Norwich market.

My main criteria for food shopping is quality at reasonable prices. I will pay more for locally produced food where I am helping local businesses and farms. I am intrigued to learn more of Delia''s involvement with Waitrose however.
