Yobocop 1,444 Posted March 9, 2010 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LeagueTable/0,,10274~20090303,00.htmlAnd the end of the season....http://www.lcfc.com/page/LeagueTable/0,,10274~20090502,00.htmlkey points:> Over 87 points was good enough for pomotion last season that''s another 4 wins from our remaining 11 games> If we then get another 4 wins and a draw will gaurantee we get 100 points > If we want 100 goals we currently sit on 73, we obviously need another 27 goals in 11 games, more than 2 goals a game needed. We could analyze this season and last season till the cows come home, main point is we just need to keep doing what we''ve been doing all season and win games, just thought the comparison between us and Leicester last season was interesting. Simon Lappin, King Of Spain 0 Posted March 9, 2010 I think the most amazing thing is that despite our horrific start to the season we are now on the same points and gd that leicester were, in what is arguably a more competitive league than the last one. Good on you boys!!!! OTBC!!!
K Lo 246 Posted March 9, 2010 I think that the comparison maybe spoiled a bit in the the top 7 teams are some way ahead of the 8th team this season (there''s a 6 point gap to 8th and then a 7 point gap to 10th from 9th) So, arguably, the top 7 are more closely tied as the lower teams are picking up fewer points. 10th this season now:Southampton 44 points10th last season same games:Huddersfield 49 points. nutty nigel 7,902 Posted March 9, 2010 But if Southampton hadn''t had the points deduction 10th this season would be 51 points compared to last seasons 49.
Stephen Frys Evil Twin 0 Posted March 9, 2010 Interesting.Looking at the top 6 though, you can see that on average, the teams in the top 6 have an average of 4 points extra this season than last. Therefore, if you extrapolate that over the final 1/4 of the season, you can assume that overall the top 6 will finish on at least 5 more points than last season. So using that rule of thumb, I''d say 93 points is the yardstick for promotion. 18 points from the last 11 games, which is 1.64 points per game. Over the last 8 games we''ve acheived 2.25 points per game, so things are looking rosy!
The Young One 0 Posted March 9, 2010 92 pts is the target to guarantee automatic promotion (I think that a lesser figure will be needed) but 92 should also be enough to get crowned aschampions as other team will also drop pts and are playing each other. Our current pts are :- 7511 Games left to achieve 17ptsGames left and a negative spin on the results. Result Pts TallyHuddersfield A Lose 75 Swindon A Draw 76 Leeds H Lose 76Tranmere A Win 79 Stockport H Win 82MK H Win 85Orient A Draw 86 Charlton A Lose 86Gillingham H Win 89 (we will secure Automatic Promotion due to results of others)B Rovers A Lose 89 Carlisle H Win 92 (we will be crowned as Champions)So no pressure on the next 3 games they WILL NOT determine our season, the easier games will like Stockport, Gillingham & Carlisle at home.If we get more than 1pt from the next 3 games our Automatic Promotion celebrations can start much earlier than Gillingham at home. Given our goal difference, it''s likely they''ll need 28 points so that''s 2.54 points per game.Good luck to them, I say.
