What makes a winning team into a losing team?

Recommended Posts

I''ve watched quite a lot of Forest earlier in the season and i thought they looked like Brazil on occasions! Some really impressive performances, full of flair and full of goals. None more impressive than a 5-0 win over QPR around the time we beat ColU by the same score.

But after that, they lost their derby game to Derby, managed a very late winner in their next game, then lost back to back games to Doncaster and Coventry, then back to back 1-0 wins.

So since a big 5-0 win, they''ve had late winners, narrow 1-0 wins and a couple of defeats. And today got spanked by Leicester.

Sounds familiar doesn''t it!?

Really does show that the game is played in the head. We know we''re a very decent team with very good players (in this league at least) and Forest are the same. So what''s changed? Over-confidence leading to nagging doubts?

Funny old game eh!

When you look at it like that it could well be complacency and then because of that we have had to work a little harder and therefore become tired.

However I think games like Brentford and Hartlepool were a bit complacent, but since then I would put it down to tiredness.  Smith is the prime example, he usually covers every blade of grass but has looked very tired.  Also Wes hasn''t been the smae for a long time (I think not since boxing day).  And neither Lappin.

I think it may be worth to give some players a rest like Lappin and Smith, maybe even Hoolahan but the on tuesday night agaisn''t Southend we really missed Smith and when he came he changed the game for us.

Overall I would put it down to tiredness and I think we should rest a few players, but not all at once.

People don''t put negative things in the first place unless the team starts losing or under-performing.

What makes them go from being able to beat anyone to struggling to beat anyone?

Obviously too subtle a question for you Arthur!

the press/media do.. if you win one then draw 3 games they say its a good run.. lose the next match and its a "4 match run without a win, 3 points from 12, relegation form!" even though 1 defeat in 4 games isnt bad.

Losing key players is the main one. Keep Drury, Rusty, Holt in the team all year without missing a game and we win more comfortably. I don''t know for sure but I wouldn''t be surprised if Forest have lost a few players since their successful run.
