Alan Brazil - you'll love this

Recommended Posts

If you''re a Talk Sport listener you may have been wondering why the chubby one was not on air for most of yesterday morning & again mysteriously missing this morning. Well, according to an article in today''s Daily Mail (page 77), Mr Brazil was "taken off air after only 12 minutes of yesterday''s program because Talk Sport executives claim he was slurring his words" (nothing new there then)

The article goes on to say that this was the third time this has happened in 4 months.

After yesterday''s incident "Brazil blamed his enunciation problems on the cough mixture he had been taking"

This turned out to be a rather expensive relapse, the article added, as after the first 3 incidents, Talk Sport added a clause to Brazil''s contract whereby he is fined £5,000 if he fails to complete a show for reasons his bosses regard as unacceptable

The article concluded that "Alan Brazil is unwell" announcements at Talk Sport invariably have a horse racing connection and have coincided with the morning after the highly sociable Brazil has been busy at Newmarket or Cheltenham. "Brazil believes his social commitments help promote Talk Sport while listeners accept his occasional lapses".

Shurely shome mishtake! He''s normally such a professional, as he appears to be the major contributor of ''on air balls-ups'' on the ''clips of the week'' on Hawkesby & Jacobs show on talksport.

It''s the first time he''ll ever be refered to as a lightweight!!!

When Inspector Morse actor John Thaw died, Mr Brazil said on air that he was "Sorry to hear of the death of John Shaw". When someone pointed out that he''d got his name wrong, he said "Oh God yeah, if you''re listening mate, I''m really sorry".

100% true! It was in Colemanballs in Private Eye.

Be reasonable everybody, if you drank as many pints of cough mixture as Alan Brazil, you''d slur your words too.

Hawksbee & Jacobs on Talksport Radio just played "Brazil the red nosed presenter.." to the tune of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

Very funny, hope they play it again !

This thread has been a bit over the top and I shall now tell you why.

A long time (70''s) ago a certain Mr Brazil was abused as a young boy in Scotland, this case in the last year came to court and Brazil was one of the many people to give evidence in the case against this man. This man has subsequently been convicted of his crimes and sent to jail.

A few weeks ago a "wag" decided to send an email to Talksport signed in this convicted criminals name and was read out while Brazil was listening, of course no-one on the station realised this and the upset it could cause Brazil.

Now I know before all this happened that he had turned up one morning for his show a little worse for wear, and has been warned about it, but should we not cut him a little slack in this particular case and leave off him? I would recommend to him that perhaps he should seek help about his past and he probably has, but hitting the bottle is not the answer as we all know.
