Give up on the songs!

Recommended Posts

The odd thread about a new song for a player is entertaining but bore off at the moment with all these naff song ideas! No much point in it only two sections of the ground sing and they don''t even sing the songs we have for players. Just a constant can''t of "Y''army" which does my bloody head in! I can''t remember the last time Hoolahans song got sung, which is a shame cause its my personal favourite.

The Reason we don''t have any songs for people is not for a lack of creative effort but because not many players have bothered to stick around in Norwich for longer than 6 months in the past three seasons. Only Doc, Wes and Russell could be concidered as regular starters from last year. Us Norwich fans are so original the best we can come up with is "There''s only one ginger Pele" which we nicked from Spurs and "Na na na na" for Hoolahan which we pinched from Blackpool!

One final thing, I don''t care if you like him or not but i will never ever sing a song for Michael Nelson! unless of course it is "Michael Nelson, He''s the worst footballer i''ve ever seen"

Methinks you forgot to include Adam Drury and Simon Lappin in your list of players who have stuck around. So what that they didn''t play much for the previous couple of seasons as that was for very good reasons ie injury and out-of-favour.And despite his time here, Drury''s never had a song.

Mister Chips, that is class! One of the few attempts that is genuinely very very good. Now how the hell can we get it going at Carra Rud with so many words for the yocals to remember?

Picture yourself in a ground on a river

With tangy entrees and marvellous pies

Goreham calls Adams, who answers quite slowly

A team-sheet he carefully eyes

McNamee playing in yellow and green

With Hughes towering over his head

Looks out for Rusty - no FA surprise

Cos’ he’s gone.

{CHORUS}

Loosely in disguise the diamond,

Loosely in disguise the diamond,

Loodely in disguise the diamond,

Ah... Ah...

{VERSE 2}

At one nil down we a climbing a mountain

We’re freaking hoarse people who fear humble pies

Everyone smiles: Oli drifts past defenders

He scores: an incredible high.

Newspaper headlines appear on the floor

Waiting to be taken away

Climbing the league with our head in the clouds

And we’re strong

{CHORUS}

Picture yourself on a train in a station,

With binmen for porters with tears in their eyes.

Roy Keane and coaches appear on the platform,

All clutching their P45’s.

{CHORUS REPEATED AND FADED}

Great thought Chopsy

Trouble is noone ever gets the words to the original Bohemian Rhapsody correct - anyone remember Jasper Carrots version including '' Beelzebub has a devil in his sideboard''??

If people cant get the classic version right what chance some of the lower Barclay and Snakepit getting the Holt version right - its bad enough with "My Garden Shed"
paul lambert is having a party, brisk of coke and a bottle of barcardi!!! paul lambert is having a party!!!!
Ahh: just commented about this one on another thread. Had thought ''brisk'' was ''Breezer'' and lambasted them for it. In fact, I''m certain many kids WERE saying Breezer and would highly doubt they had heard of the word ''brisk''. I haven''t heard of the word brisk (in that context) and can only assume it''s similar to a pitcher, which would then make sense. I''m checking my dictionary...

brisk adj 1 energetic and fast. 2 fresh and invigorating. 3 sharp in tone or manner. > briskly adv.

brisket n a joint of beef cut from the breast.

The Penguin Pocket English Dictionary (2004)

You seem to know the people responsible (going by your other comments), so maybe you know better...

I won''t repeat my lambastastions, they can be found in the Yellow & Green Armband thread...

Knew I''d forgotten something:

a) Yes, yes, I''m a pedant.

b) the lambastastions word I made up shouldn''t really have that second ''s''.

and c) I love the Queen and Beatles pastiches; top jobs people. I''ve done a few worthy jobs over the years myself, and appreciate the effort, creativity and humour that''s gone into them. I got mine published in one time fanzine, Y''Army, and my mate''s did attempt to learn them, but yes, that''s an uphill struggle with those that favour simplicity and repetition. The suggestion of individuals printing off their ''songsheets'' isn''t too far fetched an idea, especially if a bunch of lads did it then entertained everyone around them at Huddersfield...

A while back, Wrath old-timer Suggs had his own site with uploads of songs him and other City fans had put together in honour of various players at the time (Steeno, Malky, Holt etc), so that notion of the collaborated charity single isn''t that far-fetched either...
