This thread is proof if proof was ever needed that Norfolk in terms of diversity is still relatively low.

People just don''t know how to handle the situation and end up making a racist remark out of pure innocence or ignorance.
Donovan Blake could be black, white, rich, poor, gay, straight, whatever... what I truly hate about the man, aside from his footballing ignorance and lack of intelligence, is the fact that he appears to be a Scummer.......
Whatever speculation on here is as to what Donovan Blake is or isn''t I do know he''s a Man City fan.

I have to say that I quite like him and his enthusiam although agree he does come over as a bit uncomfortable at times on tv and shouldn''t after 10 years with Anglia

Heres a bit more about him, like ''''Smith must score'''' says I''m sure he''s a Man City fan too

Donovan Blake has been ITV Anglia’s sport correspondent since 2000, but has been working the East Anglia patch for more than 20 years. Originally from Manchester, his journalism career started with Jarrold’s Press Agency in Ipswich in 1988, and progressed through SGR FM Radio in Ipswich (now Heart FM) where he spent four years as Sports Producer and later News Editor. Sport also plays a big part in his life outside work. He still plays club cricket in Ipswich, and has a keen interest in the history of television sports broadcasting.

How has this thread provided proof? I haven''t seen anything racist in this thread at all. It''s about disliking a presenter. If someone was to come up with a ''how many black guys does it take to change a lightbulb'' joke i may be inclined to agree with you, although i have no problem with them jokes or any other because im not racist but can laugh because it''s humour and nothing more.I think the problem most of the time is that people CHOOSE to take offence to things which are not intended for that at all.

In a discussuion about music once, the people I was with were talking about, amongst other srtists, Tracey Chapman.

I said I wasn''t a fan and didn''t like her music and the discussion swiftly went onto the theme of why I was racist because I didn''t like Tracey Chapman!

Am i the only person who wants to smack the smirking buffoon in the face??? Doesnt seem like he knows what hes talking about, obvious that hes reading from a cue, that irritating grin..... He also ruined the Milk Cup final DVD for me with his crap commentry. Bring back Kevin Piper...he knew his stuff. This guy seems like he does no research at all or bothers to read reports just read off an auto que. Really want to slap the smug, grinning, irritating prat round the chops!!!!!! P.S. Its not because hes black before anyone says it.
If he was white he''d be just as irritating - if not more so.
Why?
Because I wouldn''t expect a white presenter to be so self-conscious.
racist.
Are you seriously labeling me a racist because I reckon Blake is self-conscious owing to his skin colour?I''ve known and befriended many a black person in my lifetime, and in my fair estimation they do tend to be more self-conscious than your average white person - for obvious reasons >Duh! It''s the same with all minorities - except Gay people who are mostly extrovert. When Blake is presenting on TV he does come across as being a tad uncomfortable, which would suggest I''m not far out with my observational skills.
This is funny! You''re being funny right? It''s like David Brent or something!
Shyster, if you are being funny, I have to hand it to you, this is very very good. As this poster says, Ricky Gervais would be hard pressed to write something as sharp.

Well as someone else pointed out about music, what about rap music. Calling each other n*gger, and white people honkeys, yet its not racist becasue they are black. I watched a film last night called Role Models, wont go into a film review, but at one point a young black kid calls Sean William Scott a honkey. Did I find that racist? No, I was crying with laughter.
Thanks for adding a bit of sanity to this thread CA.I think I read what you''ve posted about him somewhere myself. Having spent all that time in Suffolk he''s bound to have a little bias towards Ipswich but he did confirm that he was a Man City fan when I asked him when he was covering a match at Carrow Road.Incidentally someone I know has socialised with him on occasions and said he''s good company

We bumped into him last season at a service station on the way to an away game and he was very friendly and chatty, seemed an ok kind of guy to me despite living in Suffolk [:)]

Fair dos on the Man City thing, and I''m sure he''s a nice chap as some of you who''ve met him say... but it doesn''t change that he''s an awful presenter and really shouldn''t be allowed on telly. He was also rubbish in those Halifax adverts...

Thats racist Evil Monkey! Just thought I would get in there before anyone else. He more than likely is a lovely, decent chap, but he just isnt any good at his job. Being a nice guy doesnt change that.

Has anyone else seen the film Role Models? If so, were you offended by the little black kid calling Sean William Scott a h-onkey or did you laugh like me? I didnt find it racist, I found it funny.

I don''t think people making racist remarks is the issue here, its people who are scared of making them and then making a tit of themselves in the process. Rather like yourself with the ''black guy gag'' explination.

So Norfolk Lutonian, do you find it racsist and offensive, when we are called h-onkeys in films? I dont I just laugh it off. But how come people can laugh off h-onkey, yet when a coloured person is insulted people play the race card.

I''d have no problem accepting that if it wasn''t for the fact that a good percentage of black people actually call each other that same word. [:S]

Uh-oh you''ve done it again.

Coloured person?? This is exactly my point you don''t want to sound racist so you perhaps not knowing it use a word (coloured) which is in its nature racist.

I''m not talking about everyone in Norfolk but it is quite sheltered in terms of let''s say ''modern Britain'' and your two posts have done nothing to persuade me otherwise

Would I find it racist if someone called me a honkey? It would depend in what context.

Same applies for the term n''gger. It completely depends on how you mean to portray it.

You remind me of David Brent in the office. He tackles the issue of racism and tries so hard not to be racist but unfortunately he is.

So refering to someone as coloured is racist now aswell? Class clown were you Norfolk Lutonian. If I had called him black, you would have said I was racist, in fact whatever I had said you would have said it was racist. People like you are the idiots you make people feel ashamed of their country. Oh let me guess, thats racist? Twonk!
