after leeds mess up again we do not need to be thinking of just automatic, lets put pressure on those below... lets push and go right out for promotion with the championship

Leeds are joining the pack we can help that and stretch away, ok tough games in march but Leeds can easily miss out on automatic

our aim is promotion but lets make a statement and go on another run and hope they get in a dogfight for second place

grant holt said today in the press that automatic promotion was the target, whether that is first or second. Well I don''t want to hear that, yes that is the aim but keep that in private... right now we are top of the league you do not say ''oh yeah we don''t mind if we don''t win the title even tho we are top of the league''

Holt probably wants to win League 1 (like most fans) but a little reality check won''t go wrong. Concentrate on promotion first & title second will be the Lambert train of thought imho & he''ll make sure the players know this. Lambert was a down to earth guy as a player & he shows the same approach as a manager.

The clubs target is promotion via the playoffs 2 nd place or first place. Grant Holt is quite right once promotion is acheived - and more importantly our club is saved from what will follow should we not get promoted - then we can worry about coming first.

This is the attitude that has got Leeds and Charlton into this situation. As it stands at present although we have a march on them all there are still 5 teams fighting for the 2 automatic places.

Fair enough but we all know promotion is the target, but right now don''t say we don''t care if we are 2nd or 1st. I just think now is the time to say no the championship is there for the taking and we want it. Just puts new pressure on those teams and our own players to still perform.

obviously I''m on my own with that... so I will leave it here but I think it is important to put out new goals for players throughpout the season, like goal targets etc. Yes each game as it comes and all that, but saying it is there is a new target and puts pressure on others

Its all about the next target

Its safe to say we wont be relegated.  We need another 10 points to be sure of the playoffs but we''ll call it 12 because thats 4 wins.  So 78 points

Once we have that we want 84 points - that means we finish no lower than 4th and get the 2nd leg at Fortress Carra

Next target is Auto Promotion.  90 points usually does it but 96 may be required this year, with the current form of Swindon and Col Who - and Leeds wont always be in a slump.  So thats 10 wins from 15 games

Finally we can push on and win the title.  Probably another 2 wins on top

No point in going for the title before we''re assured of promotion - otherwise the pressure will build and we''ll implode like Leeds

I couldn''t agree less.

By all means, behind closed doors set this as the target. But as far as quotes in the press why put more pressure on ourselves? If we come out and say we want the title then the media will spin that as 2nd isn''t good enough if we do slip down a bit at some point. Let''s just keep on going about our job quietly and efficiently and let the pressure stay with Leeds.

At the end of the day, we wanted promotion, that is it! We won''t celebrate the fact we won the 3rd division league but it would be amazing to beat the arrogant Northerners.
