Roger was right.

''Success'' does depend upon being ''cleverer than the rest''.

It was clever to ditch the player loan policy and clever to recruit McNally.

There''s an interesting story to be told here one day.

You obviously prefer the cryptic clues when doing crosswords, Bly.

I didn''t say it was Roger, Lappy. Although the quotes were his from the start of last season as I recall.

The question is though who was it who identified and recruited McNally? Do you know?

I''m glad I don''t eat at your house.

Apart from anything else gravy and potato sounds incredibly boring.

Blimey. You''ve bumped this thread so many times I''m having a job keeping up!

I suspect Bowkett, even if he wasn''t officially appointed at that point. Of course, it may have been Delia (she does have friends in high places after all) but you''d rather not believe that Bly would you? [:^)]

Sorry I can''t respond, I''m keeping a low profile. This morning the wife discovered me nakked in the bathroom.

The problem was that the au pair was there, too.

I have a lot of explaining to do hence my low profile,..

This is going to cost me a lot of expensive dinners, armfuls of flowers and loads of quality chocolates over the next few weeks to put this situation right,

Oh, and I might have to get some Maltesers for the wife.
