Bovril 219 Posted January 26, 2010 After a few years of no contests finally this year it really will be well won by the winner but who would you pick at the moment? The contenders for me at the moment...Drury, Doherty, Forster, Smith all had superb consistent seasons so far and don''t even make the top 4Holt - Set to be our highest goalscorer for one season in a long, long while...works extrememly hard albeit a stupid, reckless ''challenge'' against brentford, I actually have him at number 4!Martin - Possibly the only good thing to come out of the roeder era, exactly what he needed, a local lad banging in the goals, a natural finisher and ahead of holt for me for the improvements made this season, number 3Russell - Yes the goalscorers get all the headlines but along with the defence and a recently superb forster russell has proctected the front trio superbly, playing the makelele role imo is his best role, lambert has got the best out of him and because of his postition rarely gets recognised but if he were to get suspended or injured watch the difference! number 2Hoolahan - When we first signed him, I was amazed we got him, a blackpool mate said we grabbed the bargain of the season, he was always going to hold the power of how our season went, great credit to lambert for bringing him back in after freezing him out, sets up goals, takes it past players with ease, scores goals, spots passes at ground level under pressure before the crowd with the benefit of an aerial view can''t even see! I''m a huge fan of ''playing the game the right way'' or the ''arsenal way'' and he is the reason why..number 1Finally Paul Lambert - This guy is destined for the top, everything you think should happen he does, gets rid of mcveigh and cureton (who as much as I would have liked just arent good enough anymore which was plain for all to see) brings in hungry, young, talented players...plays the formation to suit the players and not vice versa and crucially manages each game individually, making changes as the situation changes (ala brentford and holt''s sending off) and doesn''t go with the same pre-formed ideas for each match. No doubt about it, he will leave for a bigger club but for now he is ours and what a job he is doing! OTBC
I am a Banana 0 Posted January 27, 2010 hoolahan is miles ahead of anyother player at the moment.holt has done well and i think he will get the 2nd on the day - although im not sure if he deserves it.the fact that you haven''t even mentioned lappin is crazy to me he has been outstanding this season! Lambert is King 0 Posted January 27, 2010 I also think Holts discaplineary record will ensure he does not get it. with 18 games left he will miss next 2 games - without being negative 2 more yellow cards give him another 2 match suspension and a red card now I think would give him a 4 match ban. Lets hope he learnt his lesson
Woman in the Stands (WITS) 0 Posted January 27, 2010 As op wrote, the winner this season will be thoroughly justified, unlike previous ones where we''ve had to pick the best of a mediocre bunch.Everyone who plays regularly for City this season is rightly in with a chance - some higher than others. It''s going to be quite difficult making a decision come the end of the season as many of the players have been instrumental in the resurgence under Lambert. Gingerpele 0 Posted January 27, 2010 Banana- Lappin had a ''poor'' patch for a month or so, and Hoolahan/Holt/Martin have just been amazing, i think that is the top three, but Forster, Drury, Doc, Lappin, Rusty, Smith have all been great as well.....Holt will win it i think... Longy 1 Posted January 27, 2010 Wes is going to have to have pretty poor end to the season not to get my vote. Like OP, I like football played in "the right way" and Wes is epitome of that.
Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted January 27, 2010 Hoolahan for me.
Shack Attack 0 Posted January 27, 2010 I''d go for Hoolahan too. An absolute joy to watch [:D]

As Holty got a straight red I think they still stand.
morty 0 Posted January 27, 2010 Its a pity it has to go to just one person, theres about 5 for me that could win it.Someone will catch the eye nearer the time as people voting in this tend to have very short memories.Probably Hoolahoop.

Tangible Fixed Assets anyone? 0 Posted January 28, 2010 How about something radical - give it to the team as there are so many good candidates.

SnakepitCanary 0 Posted January 28, 2010 1. Hoolahan2. Holt3. ForsterThat''s how it stand''s for me at the moment, but that was a really, really tough decision. If I could it would be for all the first team.

[^o)][/quote]Afraid i agree with TFA laps, Croft scored one good goal all season, plenty of effort but lacked a final ball, to top it all off refused a new contract so he could leave on a free rather than us getting a few p for him! Unfortunately his quality on the pitch did not match the effort he put in. Hard truth of the matter is he wasn''t / isnt that good. He''s a bench boy for Derby now and they are probably worse than us last season! Would much rather of sold Croft in January last year for money and played Bell till the summer and then let him leave for money too. Would of made football and business sense. and what want about Clingan? he was head and shoulders above everyone last year and boy did he have a good free kick, much better than lappin our supposed dead ball specialist (Bollocks that is) should of walked to player of the season. only trouble was people knew he''d go if we went down!
