Allez17 0 Posted January 28, 2010 Seeing as betting is my industry, I thought I''d pass some time by starting a Norwich City wager thread. I shall post a running track record of all my results from this weekend on, so we can see if I remotely know what I''m talking about, and we can keep this thread open for other peoples tips and thoughts. Yeah? Cool. I''m going to start this with a theoretical bank of £200. Most betting banks start higher, especially when you work with professionals, but lets keep it modest in here. Hopefully we''ll see that rise. Each bet will work on a points system, at increments of £5. Therefore, 1 point = £5, 5 points = £25. This means some bets will have more weight behind them than others, depending on how confident I am. It''s also worth noting that I will be placing all of the bets I suggest. Now the housekeeping is done, this weeks action...Norwich vs HartlepoolHartlepool, a team with one win in eight, against Norwich, looking for a record breaking 11th consecutive home win - there is only one outcome. As such, the price on a Norwich win is a ridiculously short 1/3, offering little value. However, it is free money, so if you''re inclined to put £30 on it, you''ll at least come away with £10 interest, which can''t be sniffed at. I''ve done this a few times, and it''s a good way of boosting the betting bank by small, consistent amounts. Just be wary of an upset. For me, I''m looking at two bets. First of all, goalscorers. For some reason, Grant Holt is still listed on Bet365, so try to avoid that one. You can get a very attractive 11/10 on Chris Martin to score at anytime, and in the form he is in, I fancy him to carry on his goalscoring run. At just over evens, you''re doubling your money, and I''m going to put 2 units on this - £10, Chris Martin to score, anytime @ 11/10. Secondly, I''m looking at Half-Time/Full-Time winners. Norwich are notorious for coming out strong in the second half, which can leave it to be a risky game putting your money on them to be leading at Half Time. Saturday, however, I''m prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. The weak nature of this Hartlepool team, unlike Brentford last week, leaves it much more likely that an early breakthrough will be made. So for my second bet, I''m going for 4 units - £20 on Norwich winning HT/FT at 4/5. Bank: £200Current Exposure: £30Neither of these are get rich quick bets, neither are going to make you fortunes overnight - but that isn''t the plan. Consistent wins like this rack up in no time. Lets hope I''m off to a good start...Your tips? Your suggestions for this weekend? Questions? Good.

Lambert is King 0 Posted January 29, 2010 Can we use skybet prices as well? And do they have to be just Norwich bets - one for tomorrow Hamburg to score 3 + goals with Ruud making his debut
Allez17 0 Posted January 29, 2010 Use any bookmaker you like, I just mainly use those two. Also, any bets, of course. But my updates will predominantly be about Norwich, simply because it''s on this forum. I make most of my money elsewhere, but this is a nice way of making city games more interesting. The Butler 0 Posted January 29, 2010 I am sure Nutty and Billy will be most impressed by this blatant advertising of bookies!!ALL wins for PUPS on a FREE bet go to the academy.(See weekly thread)Should Billy not expect some loyalty back?
fat lip 0 Posted January 29, 2010 Thanks Allez17 - Good post Any chance of posting a league accumulator / yankee style prediction weekly? Jimmy the Book used to post one on the MFW website and I enjoyed playing that and it used to come in quite regularly and Im sure I was up on the season. Just gives those like me who like the longer odds something to play with and keeps it interseting when the results are coming in at quarter to five on a saturday on the walk back to the car. Cheers, keep up the good work
Binky 0 Posted January 29, 2010 As you say - it is all about picking a bet which offers a bit of value. I see Lappin is a rather mean 4-1 to score anytime - in recent matches you could get odds of 8-1 on both him and Doc.Obviously odds reflect the perceived quality of the opposition. Lappin surely has to score sometime but I fancy we''re more likely to convert some of his corners - so Doc at 5-1 and Whitbread 7-1 look better value to me... Allez17 0 Posted January 29, 2010 AccumulatorsThese are good fun but I don''t take them too seriously, mainly because I approach betting like a job - accy''s are a bonus that only comes in once every now and then. However, I''ll be happy to put up what I would go for each week, starting with this weekend: Derby vs Nottingham ForestSheff Wed vs PlymouthLiverpool vs BoltonCharlton vs Tranmere£10 @ 7.73 = £67.30.If anyone isn''t sure about decimal odds, click here. ca 1 Posted January 29, 2010 I posted a link on Tuesday night for someone to watch live streaming and it was removed within 30 mins so how come this thread advertising a link has been allowed to stay?Anyway if you want to have a bet support our very own Free Bet Thread and our very generous Dixmar Racing. blahblahblah 2 Posted January 29, 2010 Because the streams are borderline illegal (not to watch, but to provide), and archant errs on the side of caution when it comes to promoting illegal activities.

Gingerpele 0 Posted January 29, 2010 why don''t you do it at Dixmar racing, like suggested, look at the odds NN gets on a saturday morning, it nearly always ends up with £10 or so more winnings....plus Billy deserves it for doing the whole free bet thing really :D

jeagle 0 Posted January 29, 2010 Real Madrid away at Deportivo tomorrow night are even money. Even without Ronaldo I think Real look good value.I also fancy Gold Award in the 2.40 at Newbury today. Around 2/1, Henderson''s horses have been in good form recently and with Geraghty on board I quite fancy it.
Gingerpele 0 Posted January 29, 2010 You think Madrid look quite good? Thats interesting, i wasn''t very impressed the last couple of times i watched them..... (probably because with all the money they have spent, all the players they have, they should win every game quite easily...)
Big Slob 0 Posted January 29, 2010 It''s alot easier just to go on a betting website, where all the fixtures are laid out for you, as are the odds, and do it like that. Thank you for your concern but i''ll bet with who i want
blahblahblah 2 Posted January 29, 2010 There''s a few interesting choices in your accumulator there Allez : Sheff Weds'' home record is 4-3-6-19-22Plymouths away reord is 3-1-8-9-19With a home win percentage for Sheff Wed 30.7 %, what attracts you to the home win ?Also, Derbys'' home record isn''t too bad - 6-1-6, with Forest being draw specialists on the road - 4-9-0 - Arguably a draw is more likely there ? Or if you put them in a double or treble with a team during the day you can cover yourself for some winnings later on.

fonejacker 0 Posted January 29, 2010 Once again Allez17, thankyou for your great post, but as I mentioned at the start, I was worried what some posters would think. Don''t get me wrong, I am a champion for the Free Bet and think Dixmar Racing do a great service to us, but there is room for this sort of thing too.I have gained a little insight from you already - you say it''s your industry. I normally just stick to my weekly accumulator, but have been interested to read and understand more about other types of bets. Thanks again.

But of course Billy''s shop is not accessible on-line and as others have posted, they like the ease with which they can use the coupons from those online bookies. What I will do is compare 365 with Billy''s prices on the free bet this week. The thread is interesting nonetheless so well done Allez17. I do a fiver accy for my self every week with Billy and the edge his prices give me I believe will ensure I will be in profit at the end of the season. I do home wins and no set number. Just before Christmas I got a line of ten up. The ten would have paid £65 with Boyle Sports online but Billy''s pay-out came to £96. So as i say every week - "That''s why, if possible, you should bet with Billy".Anyway, I''ll post my accy on here on Saturday morning with the odds I get compared to 365 and you guys can decide whether it would be worth betting with Billy.Allez17, you''d be more than welcome on the Rays Funds For FONCY thread every week. It''s too late now to stand a chance of winning the PUPs league but we''d love a selection from you each week even so.

Allez17 0 Posted January 29, 2010 With a Norwich based bookie, it''s worth noting that I live in East London. I like to keep multiple accounts open with as many bookmakers as possible - you get many more hedging opportunities, arbitrage opportunities, and just better odds. I don''t want to deflect attention from the good work that goes on in the other thread, but I started this more for me to concentrate on Norwich based bets - I''m sure both threads can offer something of value to you all! With regards to the Sheff Weds bet, I selected them entirely on recent form under their new manager - they''re good value given that they''re in form, at home, against a fellow threatened team. As for Derby/Forest - these matches will always be tricker - this is the main gamble of the accumulator. But I''m willing to bet that Derby''s poor form, and Forest''s almost unnoticed rise up the table, will see a win for Notts. But you''re right - this one is trickier. As for whether I''ll keep this going each week - absolutely! I''m going to keep going with the bank and update it after each bet, so we can see a running tally of how I do. I''ll also be adding and passing along certain things that I find/write in my job - specifically relating to betting tactics (dutching, laying etc), and how to treat it more professionally, to make money a bit more consistently than most punters. ricardo 8,016 Posted January 29, 2010
how to treat it more professionally, to make money a bit more consistently than most punters.
Best of luck mate. Ive got an old friend who is a professional gambler but he makes his money on the margins ( i.e.the slim differences between backing and laying prices). Bloody hard work by all accounts and you need to be very disciplined. that means you don''t really gamble at all but just pick up your £25 and £30''s on the margin.I see many shops closing in the High St. but none of them are Bookmakers.
