jew 0 Posted January 17, 2010 Saturday 16th January 2010 – a date that since the dawn of time, has struck anticipation, fear and trepidation into the hearts of Norwich City fans everywhere. For this date would see a MASSIVE local derby, a clash of east Anglian titans, an epic sporting duel between two lions of the footballing world surely heralding the dawn of a new footballing order in the east of England. Or it could have just been another League 1 game, not too sure. Ask Robbie Cowling. The stage was set (or should it be wet): The Weston Homes Community stadium. Forget the San Siro, the Bernebau or the Nou Camp, this arena, set deep amongst the local community (mainly comprising of badgers and rabbits) has a special aura. Some have called it “awe inspiring”, others preferring “magnificent” with others referring to it as too “great” for words to describe. Most would call it a soulless, out of town shitpit. The Colchester firm were out in force – (Dave the painter, his dyslexic brother and Doris the tea lady). This made for a truly intimidating atmosphere to be involved in. For our own safety, we kept our heads low on the way to the ground for fear of attack by these truly “brave” and “hard” men. Luckily we were able to get a quick picture to send to the police so these hooligans can finally be caught. Terrifying: The Colchester fans try their best to intimidate With many ales consumed, along with a highly random but very enjoyable double vodka and lemonade, it was time for the journey to the arena of champions. We set off by foot on January 3rd, 2008 and arrived in Chelmsford at 2.50pm January 16th 2010 just in time to see the Colchester team come out to rapturous applause from their fan. They even lined up for a team photo to commemorate this memorable occasion. Well, they were playing the mighty Norwich City. Back row (left to right): Boothroyd Okuonghae Batth Baldwin Williams Tierney White Henderson Robbie Cowling Front (left to right): Ifil Izzet Fox Wordsworth Platt Lisbie. Many Norwich troops managed to breach the barricades, and infiltrate the enemy. Disguises were common and widespread, in attempts to not be found out by Colchester’s army of 34 season ticket holders. Many hoped and prayed that a solitary blue scarf or hat would suffice. However others made more effective costumes in order to blend in with the locals: "Theyl Never catch me!": Dave from Swaffham 90 minutes and 5 goals later the scoreboard read: and Robbie Cowling (pictured here celebrating his fourteenth birthday) was left to lick his wounds. Cowling on recieving Superman outfit for 14th Birthday: "never wanted anthing more than to get this present" Good luck to Colchester for the rest of the season [{] Coldest Regards, Delia and the Lads xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
