how much?

Recommended Posts

Both the BBC and regional TV have a pay structure which is lower in the regions than those at "Head Office" or on flagship programmes - quite substantially lower in most cases.  Sky TV have a national pay structure not affected by location except there is a London weighting allowance and a similar allowance in Dublin because of the high cost of accommodation.

I have no knowledge of how much Mr A earns but I would say the average in the regions for a staff TV reporter is going to be within a £35k-50k range - less for a purely local station that has no links with a major broadcasting organisation.  There will be starting youngsters on less than £35k and local stars on a bit more than £50k.
