A worrying week ahead

Recommended Posts

Back from the match and feeling very disappointed and dejected. Appalling officials, although I''m getting used to it in the Premiership. Great first half for the boys, until the injuries took effect - if only one or two of the chances had gone the other side of the woodwork!  Charlton off, and Drury shows why he deserves to be on the subs bench, especially their first goal. The excellent Safri off, so Helveg left to run the centre midfield - oh dear. Jonson (who is getting better and better with every game) off and Bents having to change position, which damaged our attacking flair. Even Hucks looked ineffective in the second half - perhaps he needs a rest for a game or two, so that he can recharge his batteries and get his focus back. If the injuries are such that we get Damo, Jonson and Safri back in midfield quickly, and we team up the tireless Leon with a striker who knows where the net is (perhaps at the expense of Hucks?) and we might stand a slim chance of staying up.

We need to bring in someone with power and strength up front to pair up with Leon, who WILL start putting them away soon (if he gets some help at front). In our price range, that means someone like Harewood (at best) or Abbott or Eastman from lower Divisions. I can see us not buying anyone at all, in the circumstances.

What a miserable bunch, we knew we''d lose more than we''d win this season but considering the huge step up most of the players have made this year I think we''re making a damn good fist of it. We went to Chelsea looking for a result, a huge task. Now we''re off to Boro with the bus half full of kids! but we''ll give it our best shot and if we come away with any sort of positive result that will be fantastic. Sure, in a perfect world we''d be mid-table by now given some of the luck we''ve had (or haven''t had!!!) Let''s just stay positive for the team, they need our support. Not for us the boo boys at West Brom, or the unrest at Palace Saints or Blackburn, we stay calm back the lads and we''ll be okay. otbc
