BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted November 27, 2009 Does the NCFC board have the balls to dig in and postpone any ''necessary'' sale of key players until at least May when the promotion issue will be settled one way or the other? Will they hold their collective nerve in the face of tempting offers and scheming agents? If they gamble with Lambert''s promotion train and it runs off the rails or hits the buffers they will deserve everything that comes their way. But, we''ll know in a short two months'' time. What say you? Yea or nay?Me? I''m sitting on the fence on this but my heart is going "Boom Diddy, Boom Diddy, Boom Diddy, Boom Diddy, Boom Diddy, Boom Diddy, Boom Boom BOOM. Beauseant 0 Posted November 27, 2009 It''s not like the good old days. Flicking through some of my old programmes I found this in the notes for the visit of Leeds in February 1964:"In view of the many press rumours which have appeared recently, we take this opportunity to deny that the Board of Directors have ever considered the question of tarnsferring Ronnie Davies"Oh, for such an unequivocal statement today. Joanna Grey 0 Posted November 27, 2009 Another anti-Board post of little substance, makes you wonder which team bbb follows;David McNally: Hello Ricky and the many other fans who have also asked about the January transfer window. Firstly, and most importantly, there are no plans to sell any players in January. However, there may be fringe players leaving the Club during this period. If the Club does receive any offers for first team players, these offers will be considered by Paul Lambert and the Board. Clearly Paul may decide to trade because he knows he will be allowed to re-invest any monies received into his squad. Seems like Lambert is calling the shots (quite rightly) on player movements and not the Board. It is quite apparent that we are now thinking like a proper football club, the main priority getting out of this division. The Board know that Lambert is the right man to do that and will not interfere in his plans.

It will be excellent if David McNally''s commitments play out in reality over the next few months. However, the whole history of NCFC would point in an opposite direction. We are a buying and selling club and always have been. The key issue this time around is timing. If any key player(s is to be sold to cover financial deficits then it is crucial that any such action is held until the summer. In our current condition and the existing economic environment this will no doubt require some balls. Why don''t you campaign for what is patently right for our club at this time and add to the pressure on the board to do the right thing - rather sitting in the corner purring in the laps of those holding transient power and making silly insinuations about a supporter of over 50 years.I will be the first to cheer if on 1st February 2010 we wake up to find that none of our key players have been sold.OTBC
blahblahblah 2 Posted November 27, 2009 All clubs are selling clubs if the price is right. If Real Madrid wants to spend 80 million on an over-lubricated show-pony who can''t drive a car, Man Utd will not stand in their way.I do believe you are attempting to set what you would call a "benchmark", when it''s actually a flimsy excuse to moan if and when the inevitable happens and we trade some players in January. That was until you read MacNally''s comments and it''s suddenly a pro-club stance (whatever pro-club means in your eyes). I suspect they perhaps though have always allowed the manager of the day to largely call the shots.Roeder choosing expensive loan signings rather shopping within his budget for "lesser quality" permanent signings. They allowed him to release Huckerby, I guess the board would not have made the decision. If the board were only making decisions based on short term finances surely Clingan would have been sold during the january transfer window but was kept to maximise our chances of staying in the championship. Ultimately this must have been the decision of the manager (Roeder/Gunn).Gunn appeared to have the say in who came and went during the summer. The impression I have is that our board allows the manager much more freedom to manage the team and transfers than many clubs. We and they just happen to be lucky that Lambert would appear to be making the right management decisions since his arrival. Our managers may not get a lot of financial backing, but they seem to get backing for their decisions.

Steak&Ale 0 Posted November 28, 2009 Hi, newby here, although I have been reading your posts for years. For what its worth I dont think any players will be sold off merely as a cost cutting excercise. Neither Holt nor Hoolihan will be going anywhere in the New Year. I think PL knows exactly who and what is needed to win every game we play and most matches they will be at the top of his list. Of course we wont win every one but its not in his make-up to start a match looking for a draw. H and H are more likely to win a match than any realistic replacement I can think of. There are obviously players who "play less" and are not very influential when they do. Some of these could go and be replaced if other teams come in for them. There will be a lot of good hungry players who would love to join us. The general atmosphere is better than I can remember for a very long time. No one with any clout is going to want to spoil that.
